Re:FUD? Judge for yourself.
Note that the French have one of the best security agencies in the world. The main caveat is whether there's anything in the PPT presentation which can exploit your system. I wouldn't put it past the French whatsoever.
I would not put anything past the French. To this day, I STILL boycot French products as best I can, due to this and the resumed nuclear testing in MY ocean.
I strongly feel that the Dutch, US, Britain, New Zealand and Australia should have declared war on France over that bombing. They REALLY should not have nuclear weapons, since they have shown that they are willing to bomb and kill foreign peaceful civilians in a foreign land. -
Re:More American Racism
Cluetrain - this DRM fiasco was caused by Sony BMG. Blame American market culture, not Sony, you damn racist pig.
Ha ha, I am not even American.
How am I racist for punishing the French for taking a great big stinking fucking SHIT in MY backyard and the backyard of others?
Ohh, lets weigh this up now... Approx 167 nuclear bombs detonated in or above my ocean : Me choosing to not buy thier products as a result.
Oh God damn I am one fucken arsehole aren't I?
Moron. PS The French are FUCKING TERRORISTS. I painfully regret that my grandfather, a Spitfire fighter pilot, may have defended the French, given this is how they have repaid us. -
France didn't surrender to GreenPeace ...
France didn't actually surrender to something (not yet at least)!
France didn't surrender to GreenPeace. They conducted a successful military raid sinking a GreenPeace boat (one casualty). The French agents were captured, tried, and convicted in New Zealand, but France successfully "rescued" them. France pressured New Zealand to have the murderers transfered to French territory and then released them without having them serve their sentences.
"Initially, the French government denied all knowledge but it soon became obvious that they were involved. Soon French Prime Minister Fabius appeared on television to tell a shocked world, "Agents of the DGSE (Secret Service) sank this boat. They acted on orders." The French Minister of Defence resigned. Six weeks later in New Zealand, the preliminary hearing in the trial of agents Prieur and Mafart began in Auckland. It was expected to last for weeks but a deal was struck before the agents entered the courtroom. In just 34 minutes, they pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter and wilful damage, attracting sentences of 10 and 7 years to be served concurrently. A UN negotiated settlement meant that the two agents were transferred to Hao atoll, a French military base in French Polynesia to serve their time."

"A New Zealand court found two members of the French Secret Service guilty of manslaughter. Although they were sentenced to 10 years in jail, both were free within two years. One was smuggled out of Tahiti under a false identity."

France: OK to attack GreenPeace, but not Sadaam
Lets not forget that France considers military action against GreenPeace (one killed) to be OK, but against Sadaam, no. I guess GreenPeace doesn't make them any money.

And some gov'ts terrorize eco groups: France
And by that definition most governments are terrorists as well.
Like when France conducted paramilitary operation against Greenpeace, attaching a mine to their boat, killing one crewmember?

France bombs Greenpeace and the US is the bad guy
The French government bombs Greenpeace, murders an employee, and then puts pressure on New Zealand to get agents/murderers released from prison
...
And the US is the bad guy for wiretapping Greenpeace.
Yep, no bias here.

Green Peace on Shale Oil
Not wanting to sound like too much of a hippie, but current shale oil technics are rather destructive.
http://www.greenpeace.org.au/climate/causes/crimin als/shaleoil/overview.html
Our reliance on fossil fuels is quite astonding (spelling??) in this current day. I mean we've been using such fuels for over 100 years (almost 150?). I'm sure there has always been a pretense that this stuff (coal, oil, uranium) was going to run out, you'd think we would have cut our depedency from these fuel sources years ago. I guess too few people are making too much money from exploiting such resources and the resources are plenty enough to last out their generation. -
Re:Even compared to other new non hybrids.....
It's nothing more than an engineering problem. When the cost of energy from oil exceeds the cost of other sources over time, we'll start using those other sources.
It really is depressing to me when people say things like that, look here for details on why shale oil is not a solution.
Quoted from the site:
Greenhouse emissions from the production of shale oil at Stage 2 would be nearly four times higher than from normal oil.
The production/refinement of shale oil is one of the most potentially damaging technologies ever. -
Re:Check foreign media
(e.g. in bombing of the Greenpeace ship in a French harbor by the French secret service)
I hadn't heard about that one. I had heard of the bombing of a Greenpeace ship in a New Zealand harbor.

Re:No difference for a long while, but...Greenpeace guys call Doomsday everytime a lightbulb dies within 20 miles of a nuclear plant.
Wow, those guys are so irrational! It makes you wonder why the french went to all the effort of blowing up their ship?
Face facts, the French have a long history of shitting in other peoples yards. They need monitoring.
Oh, and where exactly is all the waste radioactive crap from these reactors going? Bet it ain't gonna be on french soil.

Re:Glad we have a magnetosphere
Just wait for that ozone-killers to travel up to the higher atmosphere, which takes about 8 to 10 years (which leaves us.. err... -11 years) and we'll all become mutated super-lifeforms (maybe the stupid ones will get smarter)
:-)
