Re:Two Things.
Thank you for saying that. I've been posting it all over this thread. Hopefully Georgy is just ignorant of Condorcet and will see it's merits far outweigh IRV's.
Second, support GOA instead of NRA. The NRA's support of Constitutional government is sadly lacking. It seems they have a greater desire to perpetuate their organization than to uphold the 2nd Amendment.
-
The NRA are basically compromising wimps. They're loud wimps, and there are a lot of them, so they've been able to slow down the gun control folks more effectively than some groups, but they've done a lot of compromise over the years on issues like registration, instant background checks (as an alternative to waiting periods), government-funded pro-hunting programs (the NRA likes them) and the like.
If you want an uncompromising political group, there's JPFO - Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. Or there's Gun Owners of America, though they also like to push the pro-hunting agenda.

Re:again airport security are idiots. The solution to the whole airline security thing is easy and obvious, but in these times of politically-correct hand-holding the bedwetters of society, telling them soothing bedtime stories so that they go to sleep and have happy little dreams, you'll never hear one of these politicians stake their careers on it. Fine. Allow me to step up on the soapbox and do their jobs for them:
1) Having the government subsidize airline security is positively outrageous. That means that everyone in this country that pays taxes pays for the security of the smaller percentage of people that actually do the flying. Great idea there, eh? I say let the people who are doing the flying pay for the security. So it'll cost another $15 dollars a ticket. Big fucking deal. You want an air marshall with a gun on the flight with you or not? Pony up the 15 smackers, tightwad, or else take fucking Grayhound.
2) Okay, this may seem a little radical, but let citizens with concealed carry permits take their guns on the planes with them. (Personally I don't think we even should have to get a permit, but that's another debate.) It's like in Israel... All those times that terrorists decided to start lobbing grenades into crowds and the citizens gunned 'em down. The same could work on planes. And before someone replies with one of those "but the plane will depressurize!!!" bullshit uninformed responses, I recommend you read this first. Fact of the matter is, we should give gun-toting citizens a discount on air travel since they're essentially providing free security.

Yeah hippies!
Yeah shitdot you will report on this one huh!
Well, the constitution is being destroyed by lots of other idiot laws you refuse to report on.
Tell the hippies to go here and use the form to e-mail, fax and write letters to their "representatives".
Tell the little lego playing kiddies to go here to learn about what is going on.
Don't get involved, don't vote Libertarian, just play with your legos and enjoy the prison your apathy has bought. -
Re:The moderation system on slashdot is brainwashi
Absolutely.

Yeah, because nobody wants to get involved.
Because shitdot refuses to push the teen hippies in a direction other than towards the legos.
Becuase nobody will go here to learn the truth.
They won't even go here where they can fax, e-mail and write letters to their "reprsentatives".
Enjoy the prison your appathy has bought.

Re:Me (Troll?) plus some links
Christian, Fiscally "liberal" and Socially "conservative"? Isn't there a contradiction in there?
If tax slavery and forced morality are Christian, then I'm a Juddhist Hindislam monk. (In other words, everything but.) But I figure this is likely to be a troll, though there are some people who actually believe in such things. Admittedly, "Me" may have been referring to friendly persuasion and non-coercive measures to promote a better social environment, in which case I heartily applaud him.
In any case, y'all might benefit from a few links:
- Advocates for Self-Government has a nice little test to determine your political tendencies. They chart it for fiscal and social beliefs. "Me" would probably an Authoritarian by this reckoning. The main problem with Authoritarianism is that it requires real flesh-and-blood humans to make those decisions for everyone else, and even if you managed to get honest people into office, they still would not have the necessary local knowledge to make those decisions. The result is generally tyranny.
- Might as well plug my site, The Libertarian Party of Union County, (N.C.). Okay, y'all know where my sympathies lie.
- Since the subjects of God and Freedom have come up, you might enjoy God's Free Men and Women. Not exactly mainstream, but noteworthy for their belief that God wants Freedom for his people, a belief that does have significant backing in the Bible.
;-) ;-) ;-) (Most religions have this, but unfortunately, the folks who come along after the founder, generally whittle this down to virtually nothing.) - For something a bit less controversial, I recently came across Echoes of Gideon which made a point about the story of Gideon that I had not heard before - that the bit about the men being chosen who drank by cupping water with their hands was because those who lapped up water had gotten used to this method because they were used to bowing down to idols.
