Ideas for improvements...Just a few ideas off the top of my head:
- RSS/Atom feed to blog search results (blog search sites like IceRocket allow for this)
- Meta-stats on the 'blogosphere' (excuse me for using that term). Basically be able to see trends in keywords and whatnot. Like Google Zeitgeist, but for blogs.
- Integration with Google's Search History. At the moment, my blog searches on Google aren't showing up in my search history.
- Ability to add my blog - that is, let me enter the URL to my blog's RSS or Atom feed.
- Stats on the individual blog level - how many times did my blog show up in search results? How many click throughs? Eventually I hope Google provides a service like FeedBurner. They have the data and infrastructure there, so I don't see why they wouldn't/couldn't.

From what I can tell your slandering Baidu search capabilities and calling thems pirates when all they offer is music serch capacity. Google is not the only search engines. -
Also check out IceRocketIceRocket offers an RSS link on every search page so you can add the term to your aggregator or your My Yahoo! page. It also has the ability to search blogs explicitly and as it knows what is and isn't a blog, seems to do a better job of keeping blogs from rising to the top of every search as Google too often does.
I use IceRocket for most of my non-technical searches these days, and use Google for technical searches. Nothing beats Google when you know a few rare keywords guaranteed to be on the page you want, but I find its utility has been on the wane for general interest pages.

Re:Hmm
It's really not "free" we pay by looking at the ads and such, they make a profit by providing the serivce. Though many of us, including me and you, dont bother to click the ads. I dont think google will have to charge for their services as long as people want to advertise online, and I dont see that changing any time soon.
If you're really that angry with google you can check out http://icerocket.com, they use google as their backend but they got some extra nice features. -

What about upstart IceRocket? It's backed by Mark Cuban and has some innovative searches. The design is quite reminisent of google.

How about previews of the web pages?
What I'd like to see Google add is previews of the web pages like IceRocket does. When you do a search on there you see a thumbnail of the web page next to the entry for that web page. You can also click on the quick view link next to each result and it'll expand a frame below the entry to show you the page itself. It's a quick way to see if a site is what you wanted without having to leave the search page.

Search innovations good
I always like to see new innovations in the search market.
A new beta engine funded by Mark Cuban called IceRocket is extremely promising to me. They have some neat ideas, like showing an image preview of the search reuslt, and the ability to load the first X bytes of the page in an IFRAME to see if it is really what you want before you havigate away.
They also have a cool "people-search" feature that searches all the hot-Or-Not type sites.
It is also extremely fast - though that is likely because no one uses it yet. Check it out - http://www.icerocket.com
