Re:If they sell a laptop for $800...
It depends on what kind of display you actually want. If you want a giant, wall-covering TV you may be right, but if your needs are more modest an integrated screen works great.

Re:Move domains from GoDaddy to ?
I've had good experiences with both PairNIC and Gandi. I wrote up some information about them, and compared them to a couple other registrars (including Netsol), but the upshot is that after doing a good deal of research I was unable to find any significant complaints about either one of them. They're both a little more expensive than the low-end registrars like Godaddy, but by nearly all accounts the extra cost is well worth it.
My domains are all at Gandi currently.

Re:Ahh Oregon, how I love thee
California, where I am, sounds the same as AZ: You can buy spirits at supermarkets, just like beer and wine, but no sales are allowed between 2:00am and 6:00am (I actually know a bar in San Francisco that's open every single hour that you legally buy alcohol).
I'd like to know those three liquor stores you mention, either via comment here or e-mail. I get up to PDX a fair bit and have some friends there who aren't aware of any. Thanks. -
Re:Hmmm
I can't speak for nicotine addiction treatments, but most health insurance I've seen does, in fact, cover birth control. Hell, my insurance paid for my vasectomy, after a $15 copay.

Re:rsnapshot
I'll second this. rsnapshot can be installed via Darwinports (or manually; it's only two files:, a Perl script and a config file) and works beautifully on OS X.
I've written up an rsnapshot on OS X howto as well as an overview of my own backup system.
I'm now using an external Firewire drive for my backups (the above hasn't been update to reflect this yet) and have written a wrapper script for rsnapshot that mounts the drive before running and unmounts it after. I'll be updating the article soon with details. -

Re:MySpace is not Web 2.0
While I mostly disagree with your assessment of what should be considered "web 2.0", I've been trying to tell people this about MySpace for quite a while now.
