Re:Apples and OrangesWhat's "apples and oranges" here are the real situation, and your faulty analogy. Teaching someone to drive a car is fundamentally different than teaching someone to murder people and overthrow governments. Claiming that the CIA holds no responsibility at all for Osama's actions is ludicrous. The bulk of the responsibility still lies with Osama, of course, but our government isn't untarnished.
Furthermore, you certainly CAN compare apples an oranges!

Re:How true
I know thats like compairing apples to oranges but i like oranges better anyway.
Wait, wait, wait... Are you saying that Windows 2000 is like apples and XP is like oranges?.. or is gnome the apples and kde the oranges?.. or is windows the apples and linux the oranges?... or is it that other way round? or are you just saying you like citrus? I'm confused....
PS: obligatory: No! This is comparing apples and oranges! -
Re: Comparing apples to oranges
No, this is Comparing Apples to Oranges.

Re:On a related note...
While it's not an "apples to apples" comparison, the point of the poster was valid -- and interesting. We have no intrinsic obligation to pass along savings to anybody else. Presuming that we do is neither logical nor does evidence support it.
Oh, and you can compare apples to oranges just fine :) Just like with apples and oranges, rent and music production share far more in common than one might at first think. -

Clones v Spiderman -- the long run
I have had people tell me that comparing AOTC to Spiderman is like comparing apples to oranges, but I beg to differ. I think that AOTC is a more durable film, in other words, you can go see it time again and it gets better as opposed to worse or indifferent. Spiderman is pretty nifty, but I think it will flop down there with the first Batman in that it won't stand the test of time. My kids will be pining for (the non-existent) 7 through 9 episodes based on the coolness of these three episodes and the mega coolness of the first three. They will not be pining to see Spiderman 7: Spidey vs the Hulk.

Re:Somewhat... Misleading... and Pointless
In other news, apples are compared to oranges, and found to be different
Actually, no they haven't.
(don't worry it's a safe link and actually relevant)

Re:Not shutdown, replacedWell, comparing apples and oranges is a legitimate thing to do, when you're talking about billion dollar fruit...though I still (in, BTW, concurrence with the official position of the American Physical Society, which it sounds like you're on your way to joining at some point), maintain that the ISS is more lemon than anything else. Any unmanned microgravity experiment is going to be [unsubstantiated] orders of magnitude cheaper; do they really need constant personal attention?
In any case, thank you for the apology. For my part, I will try to do better in mathematically defining what I mean by "approximately nil" (perhaps in terms of peer reviewed publications per dollar? Should be fun, with such large denominators...).

Re:Whats the difference between Venus and Mars
When people say things like "that's like comparing apples and oranges!" it makes me crazy.
Then you might enjoy this 1995 AIR article, Apples and Oranges: A Comparison
