Re:Words to live by...
I've got to agree! I have a similar Mitsubishi from about late 80's or early 90's. Looks about like this. The thing is freaking awesome. It's still running great! (knock on wood)

Equalizer!
although they have commercially available 5.25" equalizers,
lots
of
old
automotive
equalizers
will work great in a 5.25" space.
most car equalizers are 5.75", so you have to be a little creative with cutting off that extra half inch to squeeze it into an old cdrom case. but for a cheap/free secondhand EQ (and that 1X cdrom that you were never going to re-use), its definitely worth the effort, visually and audibly. -

Bummer.
Wonder if this means they're recalling the Flower Power iMacs.

Re:A few reasons for this decision
I like the old LC, and the Centris 610-style cases....
PC cases were SO ugly back then. Macs are just -cool-, from the keyboard mouse, to the case.
Too bad they don't make them like that any more. Maybe when the 90's are considered 'retro' they'll do it. -
Here ya go.
How's this one?
I need my diaper changed, too.

Must-see pic of Linus and Alan!
This is grossly offtopic, but I came across this hilarious snap of Linus and Alan working together on some kernel code. Mod it down, by all means, but you must see this!

Re:Are you people kidding me?
Actually, ASCII (AKA Asciiware) has made lots of controllers over the years. One of their best pads they ever put out was their SNES AsciiPad. They also made an NES Advantage-like joystick for the SNES, cleverly titled the "SNES Advantage". They also made this neat one-handed RPG controller released in Japan for the SNES that let you eat/write while playing RPGs and other command-driven games.
Here's a picture of a Dreamcast controller they made.
Here's a PSX version of the one-handed RPG controller. -
Re:Where will it end ?
They already have
.. anyone remember the comic book senate hearing from the 50's?....
I think E.C. summed it up nicely with their 23rd (and last) issue of the MAD comic book.

A similar auction some months back went for $12k... not bad. I just bought a Sky Lynx on Ebay (the one in this pic and in my space collection image gallery) for my space shuttle collection. It was missing the main engines -- the three big nozzles -- so I bid on two more so I'd get at least one complete one. Now I've got three. I'm happy.
:) If that seems excessive ... well... NASA has four!I'm very impressed with the accuracy, especially for a toy -- before the decals are applied, nearly every tile line, fill/vent port, and contour are scored in. It seems to be based on Challenger, Discovery, and Atlantis but not Enterprise or Columbia (tile patterns different on the latter two.)
The original Generation 1 Transformers are my favorites. The modern ones are a pale shadow.
