Re:When you're not a monopoly,
Apple doesn't have a monopoly in the smartphone market. Symbian phones account for 3 times the market share Apple has, and Blackberry phones account for 1.25 times the market share.
You're right, I gave similar figures to the responder above you in my response to him. Apple's iPhone is growing in marketshare though, in May the market share of the iPhone increased from 30.3% to 32.8%, and Androids increased theirs from 5.3% to 6.2%. I've made mistakes in this thread but this is a big one I didn't make: Android Stealing Symbian & WinMo Market Share, but that's from last year, ie old. Looking for recent data I found 2 articles of interest, April 2010 Mobile Metrics Report and Apple iPad Catching Up On Android In OS Market. And the iPad uses the same OS as the iPhone does. However it's not a phone.

um, Android is Linux
Cherrypal, an obscure company that sells $99 netbooks, has dropped Linux in favor of Android in its bottom-shelf PC line.
Soon we'll see companies dropping Linux in favor of MeeGo or Fedora or Ubuntu. Perhaps to be expected from a WinCE site.
Anybody see the Coby NBPC722 Coby NBPC722 stateside yet?

Great opportunity for housewives in the UK
Just pair this program with this and you've got the perfect captive audience.
Since wage-slaves can't be paid enough to focus on monitors for hours on end, just recruit the populace. The upside is that if you're an especially good snitch they can let you pilot a drone as a reward. Then they can make a TV show about that, a weekly feature to show off the citizen response to the dangers of knife crime and truancy.
Who needs a community of people working for the common good when technology can step in and keep us apart? -

not sure if this is true or not
Due to a design flaw in ActionScript 3 socket handling, compiled Flash movies are able to scan for open TCP ports on any host reachable from the host running the SWF, bypassing the Flash Player Security Sandbox Model and without the need to rebind DNS.
You can see a proof of concept at the site, and it's quite interesting to watch. This happens inside your firewalled network, just by browsing the internet.
