Re:Gotta ask !
Why? WHY? In a world where http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAlib, ttyquake, http://www.jfedor.org/aaquake2/, and aalib output for mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/aalib.html) exist, you question the existence of a mere operating system?

It's a true desaster.
To elaborate: He's bemoaning that this beautyfull desktop is being discontinued. A true catastrophe that will set back the entire industry by years to come.

Re:already done for quake
First thing that popped into my head was

It isn't what he was talking about, but it sure is interesting :D -
Re:I hate SIRDs
But Red/Blue anaglyphs are really cool and would make a much more playable game.
You mean something like this? -
Magic Carpet
This isn't exactly new in a game... I remember that Bullfrog's Magic Carpet had this feature way back in 1994. It was virtually impossible to actually play while in this mode, of course, but it was kind of neat for a few seconds. But it was nothing more than a gimmick: certainly not a major feature.
While Quake II would be even neater, I don't think anything's changed now... Hell, text-mode Quake II would be more playable. -
Re:Mirror (already Slashdotted)
Been done with aalib. I've personally played Text Mode Quake (screenshots), however not aaquake2 (yet) or the Text Mode UT. The Text Mode UT (aaut) page has some useful information one how aaut and ttyquake work.

Mirrors, md5sums, and some notes...It's for real. I'm writing this in it now. I'm a bit paranoid, so I scoured around for multiple coppies before running anything. I've gotten it from all three of these urls:
http://www.domestikalien.com/imagenes/safari_v62.
and they all had the same md5sum (eca1fe732e242786744edf5e434b2330). The disk image file itself has an apple liscense, so I think this really is an official apple beta.d mg

Tabs are off by default, but can be enabled in the Debug menu. Once enabled, cmd-T makes a new tab, as does cmd-clicking on a link. I'm a big fan of chimera's cmd-[ and cmd-] for moving between tabs; mozilla's lack of support for those shortcuts has always bugged me. Safari v62 doesn't use those keys, but it does let you move between tabs with cmd-left or cmd-right (arrow keys). Yay safari! I wonder when we'll see the real release of this beta... -
