Well, yes and no
These weapons that were supposed to be the end of war aren't and any future horror developed to stop war won't be the end to war either. First, we developed the weapons and these kept USSR and America from going to war. The simple fact is, that both side were terrified of using these. We all knew what would happen. So, it really did accomplish what we wanted. And later, other nations aquired the knowledge. Some by their own work, and others by stealing it. The ones who developed it on their own had an advanced enough form of gov. that they are not real threats to those around them. Of course, until recently, Israel was probably the only one who had any real chance of using theirs.
The real problem is the recent round of nuclear build-out. These countries do not have the maturity to handle these. Basically, Turkey and Pakistan. This can be blamed soley on a number of top pubs who sold our nuke secrets for a few gold coins (relatively speaking). People like RichardPerle, douglas feith, EricEdelman, and Marc Grossman. These guys, and others, sold it to Turkey and Pakistan. This action really could start a war. Pakistan supposedly passed on their knowledge to Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, etc. Hopefully the next president will go after these guys for the treason that they committed.
In the end, I suspect that it will not matter. There are so many other easy ways to attack other ppl. Groups like Al Qaeda could easily mutate the avian flu and then spread it quickly in the west (and all for less than a dozen of their ppl; thank god that they are religious; the mullahs do not want to kill the innocent). Plenty of ways for us to kill each other.
And if could stop a world war, yeah, I would allow the feds to move me to another place, pay for a new home, and provide me with a nice new job, schooling for my children, etc, which IIRC, is what we did. -
The reason the White House won't give up the emailis because they DON'T KNOW what's in them.
With the morons they have on staff up there - and that includes Bush - they can't be sure all sorts of incriminating stuff isn't in them. In fact, they probably assume there is.
So they stonewall.
Read TFA. They're making estimates of the cost of recovery of the PST files as wildly off the mark. They're claiming it would cost $50K just to recover ONE PST file! And half a million bucks to recover 5,000 PST files!
That's deliberately false testimony - i.e., perjury.
Face it, folks. This country is being run by criminals now - just like in Warren Ellis' comic, "Reload". Look up Sibel Edmonds on Google and see just how bad it is.

Re:Delete the White House
Treasonous? Ever heard of Sibel Edmonds? She's got your treason in detail. Do a Google or go here. And here's the Wikipedia entry.

The problem is...
that the republican party is just as corrupt as W. Delay and Hastert are great examples. So are the traitors who sold our nuke knowhow to pakistan and turkey. That includes Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Eric Edelman, Marc Grossman, and of course, W. for protecting these men and their treason.

This is minor WRT this admin.
A better use of the time would be all the Haliburton deals, what Sibel Edmunds has to say, and of course, how much monitoring of Americans is happening.

Re:The UK Terror plot: what's really going on?First off, Lieberman was nailed for a number of issues. Basically, hard core registered democrats went against a dem who sided with Bush. In addition, I am guessing that his lobbyists connections is also wearing thin with the voters. The real issue is not what will the registered dems do, but what will "RINOs", independandts, and even libertarians like myself do? Secondly, I seriously doubt that ppl are seeing through the bullshit. If they did, then they would be holding the republicans responsible for a number of items.
- The current federal and trade deficts.
- The amount of secrecy that the admin appears to want, but appears to not be needed
- The traitors, cowards, and liars (almost certainly from all in the admin including bush) WRT valerie plame.
- The graft and corruption of the majority of this party.
And if the dems were truely against all the graft and corruption, they would adopt joel hefley's plan, yet, I hear nothing from them, but more of the same. -
Last election and reporting
Did you notice how a number of races had a rove connection?
Have you (or anybody here) paid attention to the coast-to-coast gangs that have been picked up lately? The news hits conservative rags all the time.
Have you noticed a number of mafia being picked up?
Have you noticed the reports of IRS busts going up?
Now, what bothers me, is why is bush, the repubublicans, and most democrats shutting up Sibel Edmunds? -
Sibel Edmunds
I would guess that this is being used for several issues;- I could see this as a way to validate what CIA/NSA interpretters have done. Keep in mind that sibel edmunds was claiming that the agencies were full of spies who were mistranslating docs.
- A input translating DB. To train an AI takes a lot of work to get it right. Specifically, it needs to understand the various nuances. It is only by obtaining a large sample with an even larger number of interpretations that a good training can occur.
- This could also be a way to track who knows what. That is, to find out who in the community will do what with a doc. An Al Qaeda operative may try to cause an issue by mis-interpretting a doc.
Now, as to this gov not releasing embarassing docs, well, see the movie on katrina, the investigation into the white house traitors, and of course, Sibel Edmunds site -
Ask Sibel Edmunds.
Oh wait. Bush has declared her and gay's (who appear to be big in the translation world) as enemies of the state.
-
Keep in mind,
the case of sibel edmunds. That is a case of Bush putting a presidential gag order on somebody in which case it was shown that she did NOT meet the criteria of a security risk.

Re:They censor in the USA too!
It has been this way for a LONG time. There is more censoring here than will ever be believed (ahhhh; you must be a pinko to be saying such things).
Sadly, most Americans either do not know that it occurs or assumes that the gov. must be doing what is right. Of course, it never occurs to these same people that Chinese may not miss certain things in their search.
The worse part is, individuals are now censored; Sibel Edmunds is prevented from talking about what she knows. We may have to wait for the next admin or for this one to go to jail. -
Re:Wait, WTF??!?!?!?and very few people are doing anything to contest them.
That is not quite true. A lot of people are trying to get the word out. Problem is, that a lot of people are backing a traitor, know it, and are doing their best to keep other quiet on what is obviously their mistake. Think about how many people here who support bush would admit that they are supporting a traitor, a liar, an obstructor, financially inept, security inept, etc. etc.? This man makes Clinton look positively compitent as well as making McCartney look like a lover of freedoms.
-
Yeah, but...
I am betting that the white house issues a gag order on them. They seem to do it everywhere, these days

Re:gestapo wtf
First off, the gestapo did a LOT more than just murdering jews. They spent a lot of time monitoring as many of their citizens as possible. Basically, you did not dare speak out, as the person next to you may very well be SS.
Next, we ARE a lot closer than what we were even a decade ago. Now, that gov. are tracking citizens and listening in their voice and internet coversations, how is that different than what gestapo did to the average german citizen? Likewise, the reason why so many fought against FDR's Social Security was that they were afraid that the SSN could be used in part of a national ID (interestingly, the republican party fought it hard based on that). The more that a gov. tracks and listens, the easier it is for the next one, to extend that further. They all say that is for the "good of the nation" or for "homeland defense".
A good example is China now has forced abortion on women and forced sterilization on both sexes. We are not talking a 1-2 months abortions, but 9 month (ready to deliver). Now, with this kind of tech., how easy will it be for a gov. to say, oh, we know that you are pregnant by listening in on coversations. And yes, if China is doing this now, how soon will other govs. decide to do the same? Perhaps, they have decided that junior there does not have the genetic make-up that is desirable. But of course, we both know that a gov. would NEVER take that step. Right?
And no western gov. would ever spend their effort listening in on all their citizens.
And no western gov. would ever control the press by locking up foreign journalist (say known musleum reporters in a war zone) or allowing their own press to be owned by just a few friendly companies in which the CEO and "moderators" decide what is ok to print/tell/view.
And no western gov. would try to control those who do have intimate knowledge of deals
10 years ago, I would have though ppl crazy for thinking that a DB is bad. Now, In light of what has happened over the last 5 years, I have changed my mind. -

If so
then push for Sibel Edmunds to be able to talk with being buried in a Texas prison.
-
Be mroe afraid of what is left gaged
Sibel Edmunds. The interesting thing about her if you believe the rumours, is that this may also hit democrats just as hard as the republicans. Supposedly, it will topple GWB's admin, but it may put ex-clinton ppl in prison as well.
-
Re:GIS info is sensitive? Give me a break!
Except that it seems to be taking a long time. Case in point, Sibel Edmunds.

Get you nowhere; republicans are in control
Part of the reason why I switched to Libertarian is that republicans (and the democrats, but not as bad) allows the gov. to stomp all our rights and not have any responsibilities for them. If you sue, they will simply pass a law that says that you can not do it. Good Example of this.
