Re:Reminds me of a hoax
I suggest you haven't heard of Edmond Wollman and his gaggle of kookchasers...
I wish nobody else had, either. Gods, leave him alone, people!
Oh: the Dungeon seems appropriate right now.

Re:Kibo?
Kibo was the first net.god.
He would grep the local Usenet spool for mentions of his name and add a message to the relevant thread, giving him the appearance of omniscience.
Read the net.legends FAQ for the whole story.

HELO MY NAME IZ BIFF.
Who can find the oldest extant BIFF posting?
I have this one from 1989.
But this one in late 1988 refers to BIFF.
According to this, BIFF was originally created by Joe Talmadge , also the author of the infamous and much-plagiarized "Flamer's Bible". The BIFF filter he wrote was later passed to Richard Sexton [q.v.], who posted BIFFisms much more widely ...
BIFF (not B1FF) was created by Joe Talmadge (of "Ten Rules for Flaming" fame) of HP in 1988. Joe posted three postings by BIFF from his account, and shortly after Richard Sexton began sending out BIFF@BIFF.NET postings for about a year until he lost interest.
I can't find the original 1988 Talmadge postings on Google. I've tried various versions (and MISPELINGZ) of the BIFF addresses. -
Ludwig Plutonium Memorial
Don't have any design ideas, but the name for the structure is easy: the Archimedes "Ludwig" Plutonium Memorial, to honor the Atom Totality Theory and a pioneer Usenet Kook.

Re:Nader would say "I told you so"
Yup, questions. Ever heard of Godwin's Law? You lost, thanks for playing, don't come again.

You loose!
I hearby invoke Godwin's law and demand that that Slashdot immediately cease all postings related to France, Nazi's and little talking furry toys.

Re:I did not spam you. Repeat. *I* did not spam yoAm I being a tad arrogant here? Not half as arrogant as anyone who thinks issuing 3rd party cancel messages is acceptable under any circumstances.
Go read the Cancel FAQ will ya? That oughta answer your implied question of "who would think that 3rd party cancels are a good idea?".
And, no, I can't just "switch" to another provider. There *is* *no* *other* cablemodem ISP in the area. And no DSL either.
Use an old dialup connection, if you have to. Or you can always post through DejaNews or one of the commercial Usenet providers.
