If you used the illegitimate MP3 site allofmp3.com you may want to investigate whether or not your transaction went through Chronopay as they might have retained a copy of your records *cough* *cough*. Krebs outed this guy in the first report and Vrublevsky tried to play it off like someone higher was trying to drag his name through the mud for political reasons. I don't need anymore accusations: Vrublevsky's a crook.

Since when defending yourself against attacks from (Russian-sponsored) terrorists from YOUR OWN TERRITORY "attacking Russia"?

Wake up, mate. Even the US DoD had eventually confirmed that it was Georgia that launched the all-out attack on South Ossetia, not the other way around. And yes, they did attack the Russian peacekeepers (under UN mandate!) in the process - a notable part of all Russian casualties in that war were peacekeepers in buildings that were deliberately shelled without warning.

Well, obviously, the White House ordered these attacks. They've been trying to delay the opening of the Iranian Oil Bourse for years and now that it is finally almost here, and their plans to invade Iran are dwindling, this is all they can do. And sadly, I'm sure it will work, too. That's how they prop up the US Dollar -- For the past 50 years, there have been only 2 places in the entire world where one can legally buy oil and both require US Dollars. Now, that will remain the case for another year. Of course, Russia is working on it, too as well as Venezuela, but they're a long way off and lots can go wrong between now and then. Maybe another military invasion? :o(

Get a grip people. The article is from the Washington Post - they have a terrible reputation for the quality of their overseas coverage, connected to the long-term reduction in journalistic resources in overseas bureaus - like Moscow.

If you want to read news from Moscow, track Bloomberg or Reuters instead, both of which actually have substantial teams on the ground there. Or even better - read the excellent English language editions of independent Moscow newspapers like Kommersant http://www.kommersant.com/. You don't need the Washington Post hawkish journos mangling the facts for you on Russia.

The Internet is almost completely unfettered in Russia and quite simply there is little indication that that is going to change in the future. The WashPost article is a beat-up and a joke.

Are they going to pay me more than I get in Moscow? I don't think so. So why should I bother?

So here's your answer: no, it won't be the next Silicon Valley. Actually, it's not the first project of a kind either, there were a couple more already. So far, nothing had come out of this. Could it perhaps be because a "Silicon Valley" is not something the government can create just on its whim?

The stuff about "all copyrightists(sic!) are scum" is silly, but he may have stumbled across something. How come this "call to law and order" comes just as Putin puts together a national body to "oversee" all media, a body which is just ripe for censorship and abuse of human rights? I smell a big two-faced rat here.

(!!??) Look at the math: India has 1.2 billion, many of which are at subsistence level; Australia, a "developed" country, has 20 million fattening middle class aspirants. A 200:1 ratio reflects that reality.

And of the $200 spent per head in lazy republics, 90% of it goes down the drain (FBI's Keystone Cops IT fiasco; name-your-favourite-boondoggle; even Russia caught quickly on to the overspend-and-underdeliver game, it's a great way to embezzle). Raising indigent populations to Western standards of waste is not really helpful, is it.

Anyway, if you didn't get Carr's memo: IT's a commodity now. The industry's shrinkage can't be blamed on nine-whatever or the "War on Common Sense"; the gold rush days are OVER. Spend less and spend better (hint: not on *cough* MS junk; hint: don't reinvent - unless it's to take business from MS :)
