Re:no substitute for the real thing
I've not tried DK2, but I use this build. I never got WineBottler to work (it hangs while enabling CoreAudio for some reason), but the bundled Wine.app works nicely.

Re:Every windows application
On OS X, there's WineBottler, which lets you wrap a WINE prefix (configuration files and skeleton c: drive) into a
.app bundle so you have a complete (redistributable, if you want) bundle for the Windows app. -
Don't forget Wine
Don't forget to add Wine to the comparison - they up to v1.0.1 now.
And if you are using a Mac, that means you should consider Wine Bottler. It's like CrossoverOver, but it's better and free.

try ies4osx http://www.kronenberg.org/ies4osx/
note that you need darwine to install/run it. http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ -

Re:Won't you take me.... to crappytown?

Wine apps are/can be much better than that on Leopard. I only have one data point, but I use it _extensively_ and it works super-well. And stably. And actually, maybe even better than on Windows.
The app? ies4osx under Darwine. Specifically, I am running Internet Explorer 6.0 for web-dev testing.
The ONLY complaint I have is that it's under the "X" program, instead of it's own program, so I can't cmd-tab to it effectively. Web I'm doing web-dev, I also run Xemacs, so I have to ctrl-tab to get to IE, then cmd-tab to get to Safari and Firefox.
And it's such a small complaint that I haven't even googled for a solution yet.

Re:Please bring out Mac support
I just downloaded the Picasa3 beta and it installs and runs using Darwine http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ on the Mac.

Re:Apple
You know, the official Wine page lists OS X specifically as a supported platform. If you want to get the dependencies (expat, freetype, fontforge, iconv, and so on) together for Wine you can build it yourself on OS X. Also, projects like MacPorts make it easy to build all kinds of free software. Personally, I like to just download a prebuilt binary of Darwine.
What were you saying about being available to OS X users?

Re:Excellent! And here is an example of a site not Linux friendly: http://www.pcoutlet.com/pcoutlet/servlet/WBServlet?webfunctionid=web.login&action=login&functionid=login try to browse around... There's a difference between Linux friendly, and cross browser. That website was clearly written by monkeys since it only works in IE and uses scripting to implement links for whatever rediculous reason.
There are some websites that I still find will not work in a non-IE browser. I guess the difference is that if you're running Windows you can fall back on IE, but on Mac/Linux you don't have that option. You can try ie4linux or ie4osx but even that is hit and miss...
