If RIAA member label then purchase used CD
If I want a disc of music on a RIAA member label I make sure I purchase a previously owned CD of it instead of a new one. Amazon, Music Stack, and other online services are available if you can't find the used CD you want locally.
On the other hand, if the music I want is not on a RIAA member label (which luckly is most of what I listen to since I really like industrial and EBM music), I make sure I purchase it new. RIAA Radar is a good search engine to use as another poster has pointed out. For independent music CD Baby is also way cool. -
Re:Be kind to your Athlon, for it bears you
I had the same problem with my (*gulp*) dual athlon machine.
Solution: open case and a BIG FAN. Also of note, these things work great at keeping people cool too if you don't have AC or a pool to lounge in. -
JohnnyDid anyone here notice the little bit in Jhonen Vasquez' comic Johnny the Homicidal Maniac between the panels in one of the issues that features a little marshmallow peep saying, "I am a marshmallow peep?"
That was a great scene.
Or was it Squee? Whichever. Classic in either case.

If you like Zim...
Most die-hard Zim fans probably know this, but if you're a fan of a show but not familiar with Jhonen Vasque's other work, you owe it to yourself to get ahold of a copy of Squee and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. The first is the more accessable and Zim-like; the second is Jhonen's quintisential work, but it is much darker and more philosophical. All his work is available from Slave Labor Graphics. (Avoid Fillerbunny and especially the Bad Art Collection; these are for die-hard fans only.)

Re:Try SeveralI was struggling with the "which distribution" question just this morning; guess I should have waited a few extra hours.
I ended up buying TRI-Linux from LSL. It's much quicker than burning all those ISO's! I also picked up a couple of BSD distributions. (I'm not affiliated with LSL in any way, other than being a satisfied customer... I bought Tri-Linux a couple of years ago but never used it to set up a "production" machine, so I didn't really use it that much).
Also, after quite a lot of reading, I came to the conclusion that I want to run Debian, but I don't think I'm quite ready for it yet, and it doesn't seem to support all of the hardware that I need without lots of patches and such that I just don't want to deal with right now. Maybe next year.

Re:And Here's a Picture
And HERE is a picture of the real reason why penguins can survive attacks by skuas, sea lions, and even terrorists. Sorry I couldn't find a better picture from the original series, but it's been out of print since the mid-80s.
