Re:Solution looking for a problem?
Am I wrong to consider energy efficiency problem with light bulbs largely solved? LED bulb are affordable and efficient. Is there anything else left to do?
Yup, LED bulbs are less than $2 each. Even if the old inefficient incandescent bulbs are legal again, I don't think they can compete.

Re: This will be dismissed
I've never been in a Menards, but https://www.menards.com/main/b... clearly shows the actual dimensions, and doesn't indicate that 2x4 refers to inches.

Re:In A World ...
Hell they already make little popup hunting blinds that could probably be fitted with a wire mesh instead of fabric. You could sell them for $500 each and not have to figure out how to build such a thing.

Re:Um, why do we need an IoT?
I'm still trying to figure out what benefit this provides me.

Re:Time for fiber optical connections
Would an isolated ground outlet work to eliminate that? This is a real question I don't know but if so at this point it is a non issue.

Re:Zoned?
Each beam alone is plus 70 pounds if its not a 2x4.
Oh, and just to inject some reality into this discussion:
Dimensions: 3 9/16" x 3 9/16" x 8' Actual
Shipping Dimensions: 96.0 x 3.5 x 3.5
Shipping Weight: 20.0 lbsBut keep on thinking you're tossing around and catching 70+ pounds of wood. Jackass.

Re:24W for equivalent of 100W light?
I think the primay advantages are supposed to be color temperature (2700K so very similar to the light from an incandescent) and lifespan. It's also dimmable which is still quite a big issue with CFL bulbs.
All in all, it's fairly expensive but does address what are probably the three biggest complaints about CFLs for use in the home.
Please... $16.99 buys you three, dimmable, 2700k, 24W, 100W equivalent CFL bulbs. So I'm going to spend an extra $30 per bulb to save one watt?

Re:flourescent bulbs
I have recently found CFs in Colors!
At the local Menard's hardware store. They are CF replacements to the old colored "party bulbs" They run at 15 Watts and produce as much light as a 60 Watt bulb... which is great when compared to those 25 watt party bulbs.
For a long time you could get Yellow/Amber CF "bug lights" and sometimes you could find CF Black Lights. But they now come in Red, Green, Blue too! - I found them just before halloween.
What I'm still looking for is CF colored Flood lights. It's been hard to find a retailer that has CF floods at all reliably around here.. Now you see 'em, now you don't kinda thing. But for Holiday lighting I want CF colored floods! I had thought of using was the old colored filters for floodlights my grampa used to have, I have been unable to find them anywhere
:(As for a tax on incandescent bulbs... Get Real, the last thing we need is to make up another way to give our money to the government. If you think it will help, think carefully of what you are asking for. Want to talk about waste, just give the government more money, I'll show you a waste.
