Re:why not link Monotype's site?
why not link Monotype's site with samples, instead of that eyecandy page?

You presumably have to pay to access their site?

Really distracting to read
An ideal font in my view is one that essentially gets out of the way and lets your brain focus on the actual content, and this one misses that mark. Looking at samples of actual blocks of text, there are two visibly different baselines: one for letters made of generally straight strokes like i, f, t, and v, and a slightly lower one for letters containing a loop like a, b, e, g, and s. It's just a pixel or two, but more than enough to be a distraction. Unclear if it might become less noticeable over time, but I don't get what useful purpose it could serve.

Re:Oh, and use good fonts
Microsoft didn't make most of those fonts, but rather just licensed them from Monotype and B&H. Comic Sans MS, Georgia, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS, Verdana and Wingdings are the only ones that MS created (presumably). Arial, Times New Roman, and the other very well known ones are Monotype fonts.

Monotype's corresponding release(?)
In response to an issue brought forth by a software developer, Agfa Monotype has released the following statement detailing the company's position on installable embedding of fonts...
If this is the actual corresponding/relevant issue from Monotype's side of the issue (which isn't specified), it sounds like they have an issue with allowing embedding with any priviledges higher than viewing/printing. Looks like it applies (mostly) to TrueType fonts, though...
