Re:If you're like me
I run two different sites, both of which are far from being tech-oriented - one is a music site, and the other is a movie review site. The stats on both sites consistently show an increase in FF usage from month to month. I know I don't bring in a fraction of the hits that Google and the other "major" sites do, but if this is any indication...
Thus far this month, we're looking at the following:
MMMDI
1,867,564 hits
64.1% IE / 29.6% FF / 1.9% Safari (the big three)
MvMMDI
186,191 hits (yes, this site is still relatively new and unestablished)
59.9% IE / 34.5% FF / 2.1% Safari (the big three) -

Re:Only two things that money can't buy...
Delaware isn't quite Maryland / DC, but we got a good amount of flooding as well. I took a bunch of pictures, for those interested: shameless plug.
Yes, I'm taking an offtopic post even further offtopic. -
Re:My reasons
Why do you (or anyone you know) put ads on your page?
I use Google ads on my sites. I also use Amazon's webservices on album pages. Why? It's quite simple. The hosting bill is $90 / month, and I'd rather not have to pay that out of pocket.
On a good month, I make enough from ads to cover the bills and buy a CD or two. On a bad month, I make enough so that I only have to pay around ten bucks out of pocket for the hosting.
As far as annoying / flashing / flash / click the monkey ads go, I never have and never will use them. Making cash from the site to pay the bills is nice, but I would rather shut the sites down than be just another site overloaded with that crap. -

Re:Crap music
I have nothing against the "rap, hiphop" ilk (I have a personal problem calling it music).
MTV Rap? Totally agreed.
However, not all rap is "bling bling" and crotch-grabbing. I could list off a couple hundred ones to back up my point, but I'll settle for just one - Del The Funky Homosapien. If lyrics such as these don't appeal to the gamer nerds, I don't quite know what would. -
Re:Here it comes
My review buddy actually gave that movie a watch. Check out his thoughts if you're interested.

My Review Site
Oddly enough, my own movie review site doesn't seem to be linked up there (even when searching for far-from-mainstream junk), though I get ample hits from the normal google search. Go figure on that one.

Re:Censorship?
You may want to check out some Japanese horror, which I'm a huge fan of for just this reason. There's the obvious exceptions, but the good ones rely much more on atmosphere and setting rather than blood and gore. Basically, for every one good American horror film from the last ten years, there's been five great Japanese films.
Some of my favorites, links to my personal reviews.
Ringu (the original is MUCH better than the remake)
The Eye
Suicide Club (a few moments of gore, but it's not there solely for "ohh, blood!"
There's many others, these are just a few of the more easily available ones off the top of my head. -

Kasparov vs. Deep Blue...
Here's what happens when you give a concert at MIT and need something to talk about.
