It still is: https://dl.netiq.com/Download?...
I build multi-million user IAM systems on it for a living.

Decimal Points or Commas?
Due to a link fark.com Operation Clambake got 200.000 hits today.
As someone who deals occasionally with CAD drawing scaling, who the fuck decided that the . should replace the , when mentioning numbers? Did Operation Clambake get 200.5 "hits"? -
NetIQ
I haven't heard anyone mention NetIQ's Appmanager.
http://www.netiq.com/products/am/default.asp
I think Microsoft sold a watered down version of it as MOM which seems to never have taken off.
Anyway, we looked at all the monitoring packages for keeping track of over a hundred Windows servers and it was the best for us due to flexibility, mid-cost, and capabilities to be centralized but monitor remote sites locally.
You can even write your own jobs to do what you want with almost no limits.
It has evolved and now monitors Unix based systems as well.
Hope this helps.

One tool Cisco uses
is Chariot test suite from netiq. It works VERY well for simulating real world loads since it basically plays back captured streams of real traffic including combining multiple streams. It then measures the performance of link(s). Another tool they used was a hardware load simulator which I can't remember the name of at the moment. They were almost like a 4U modular switch with different modules you could insert for connecting to different media for testing.

Price?
If this guy's product takes off and the price is right, it may give WebTrends a run for its money (literally).

Re:Push (Off-Topic Question)
Too bad push just turned out to be a constantly refreshing webpage
This reminded me of a question I've had for some time: if a site owner uses meta refresh=30 seconds (or whatever), does that contribute to overall page views for the page when site stat programs totals up the results or does the software discard say, 100 page views if they all come from the same (static or floating) IP address over a given period of time?
For those unfamiliar with what I'm talking about read this(Understanding Hits, Page Views and User Sessions). -

Re:Its to count the number of people w/o javascrip
Exactly.
From the SmartSource admin guide on the WebTrends SmartSource doc site, the bug in question (njs.gif) is documented as:
Name of a valid SDC uri-stem for
hits from browsers not supporting
the scripting language used in the
SDC tag (JavaScript or VBScript). /njs.gif -
Re:How to make their marketing fools notice
Marketing fools don't read web server logs.
You have never actually worked at a company have you? You do realize that people make millions of dollars a year writing web server log analyzers and correlators for marketing research. Don't take my word for it though.
Single quotes are your friend. Anyone who types \& is a dumbass.
Really, how do you propose to pass a reference to a subroutine? Oh, you mean in shell syntax? Why do single quotes when you can just escape. Escaping is a pretty handy thing.
You're a dumbass.
You need some help, mate. Seriously. Get a cat or something. -
Re:What is your favourite tool?
In that list only two "information management" or "intrusion management" applications are listed. GFI Languard (actually mentions lanscan but calls it Languard) and possibly etherape. There is no mention of any commercial products (Contego NetIQ Tivoli Risk Manager ArcSight NeuSecure) or free (ACID SnortSAM) products.
What is your opinion of this class of products in their ability to allow a network admin to be knowledgable about the security of their own network and respond to threats? -
Why hasn't NetIQ been sued?
Hello RIAA, are you tired of beating up on little boys in college yet? I'm not trying to insinuate that you're bullies, just that there's some serious meat out there for you.
NetIQ has had a product called MP3 checker available for years, which does essentially the same thing as Wake, Phynd, and all the others. It even prints out a pretty list for you so that you don't have to run it over and over again.
Like I said, I know you're not just a bunch of effeminate bullies, so it won't phase you at all that NetIQ is a partner of Microsoft. Go sue!
