Umm, Packard Bell is still in operation, just not in the US. Packard Bell

Re:Business as usual
These Guys have been doing that for years. Right along side the computers built from junk the consumers shipped back.

Re:Lexmark is not doing well
I'm pretty sure it's not directly related to their use of the DMCA so much as being extreme assholes who pitch a shitty product. It's hard to stay in business dealing exclusively in the low end market. Anyone remember Packard-Bell? Hmm... on trying to find out about them, it appears they are still in business but just not in the American market. And some of those computers actually look kinda cool, just sort of pricey. Woah. Did they flip their market? Or did some other company just buy the name???

Re:Java and Packard Bell
Doesn't change the fact that in the end, Packard Bell went out of business...
That'd be news to Packard Bell.
:-) Actually, after acquiring Zenith's PC line, they were acquired by NEC and continue to do business under the Packard Bell name in Europe. At the time (1996) they shipped more PCs than any other manfacturer in the U.S. Oddly enough, despite using cheap components, they couldn't compete in the US when PC prices started to fall so rapidly. Perhaps it's no so much that Packard Bell went out of business because of their shoddy reputation as all the other PC manufacturers began behaving just like Packard Bell. -
Where's my present?
I sent a letter to Santa for a SparcStation but all I got was a Packard Bell with Win98 preinstalled. Someone please shoot me? There's a copy of Win98 in it for you.
