Re:rtfa, sucka.
yes correct, and in-fact it can be taken one step further:
assume the system is able to determine symmetric groups.
that is groups that have totally (or near totally) different
voting directions, an example would be the honest group and
the spammers group.
if say the spammers vote something up, instead of the honest
group ignoring their rating, they can use the symmetric
properties between their group and the spammer's group to
re-enforce their vote (aka the credence) of the file in
question - in this case rate it down even further.
If the right restrictions were put in place such as the fact
that the symmetric effect will only effect files that have a
negative credence and not files that have a positive credence,
then various forms of collusion can be over come.
A lie can always be turned into a truth and a truth into a lie...

Might not be as useful as first thought...
"It is also possible that weather monitoring will become so localised
and instantaneous that weather forecasting will become "now-casting".
I'm sorry but I don't need some remote sensor device using wi-fi telling
me that it is raining hail stones, the pain from the fractures to my
cranium will be more than enough.

Re:Pascal and Delphi
Delphi uses an extension of Pascal known as Object Pascal, Delphi
itself is an RAD/IDE, however over the years people have come to
associate the Object Pascal language with Delphi and vica versa.
I personally think Object Pascal with Borland's extensions i.e.:
interfaces and properties etc, make Object Pascal one of the best
programming language currently available.
Its clean, it readable, its highly type-safe and most importantly
its really fast!

Re:Open source means...
When code is distributed freely, its free and thats the end of it.
It can't be called non-free, because at the simplest level, every
instruction needed is openly available and its usage terms are
set with the accompanying license.
Now what people are complaining about here is that because gcj
can't properly compile the code being placed into OO (mainly due
to protected and public scoping in classes) that all the code
should be removed from OO.
That doesn't make sense to me, and i don't think it makes sense
to many people. its illogical
IMHO if for example the GNU Java initiative had fully implemented
everything in Java land including the very vast libraries
there wont be any complaints coming from the open source
community with regards to Java code being OO.
And thats pretty much the crouch of the problem.

Open source means...
I write an application in "ANY" language "I" choose, and then I distribute the
source code of the application which "I" had written in the language "I" chose
and people who want it download it, build it and run it.
That said open source has got nothing to do with the language I use but rather
the way I distribute my code and the accompanying usage terms.
I think some of these so-called hackers that are complaining about the use of Java
in OO, are doing so because they lack the necessary skills in Java to contribute,
and hence feel left out of the so called open-source "fame game".
