Finally! I can read Icculus!I've always wanted to read icculus! This is great.
(For those who don't know, Icculus is from Phish's "The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday", Trey's senior project. Icculus wrote the Helping Phriendly Book. When you read Icculus, it's...read-icculus...rid-iculous...get it? ridiculous? Geez, do I gotta spell out everything?)

Re:I'm writing an Outlook killer myself
Why in the heck would I want my text below the part I'm replying to? So the person can read through 14 consecutive replies before they get to the good stuff?
Because as good Netiquette you should be trimming the text of the message you're quoting to the bare essentials - obviously.

Same legal use, different band.I use Napster to build my collection of live songs from Phish, a group which also has a nice taping policy.

Your decisions, your responsibility
It's 2am, January 1st, 2000. Most of the parties are over, all the large crowds have dispersed.
Shoot, where I was on NYE2000, the party was just gettin' started at 2:00 and wasn't over till the sun came up. How many of you saw the first (post) sunrise of the second millennium? (and I know you nit-pickers were working, so go ahead a tell me how many years it will be before the big number in our year system changes again)
Sorry, but I have no sympathy for whiners. If Y2K was that big a deal, you should have made sure you got it off, if you couldn't and it still irked you, quit. It's not like there's a shortage of IT workers or anything. I spend two months planning my trip(!) and it was all worth it. This article is like all the whining here about shitty posts, like bitchin' makes it better.
Happy Year 2000 to everyone, and if you didn't get to celebrate it (and are bitter), learn that a job is a job, but your life is your own. -
Re:Mics in the air?
Phish has not allowed any soundboard patches for quite a few years because tapers were unplugging necessary equipment in order to get a good patch.

Band Decisions
I think also, that the bands themself should take a part in the decisions made on music in this era of technology. For instance, bands like the Grateful Dead, and Phish have, for all their careers allowed the taping and distribution of their live shows, as long as they were distributed non for profit. These made the bands successful before they were on any major labels, and as of now, there are hundreds of these "bootlegs" available all over the internet in RA and mp3 format, and this is accepted by the band, the record company, and the consumer. BTW, check out Sugarmegs Audio to see what I mean, there are many other great bands besides the two aformentioned that deem this acceptable.
