Planet Moon Blazes Trail Onto PSP For Smaller Developers?
Thanks to GameSpot for its interview with Aaron Loeb of developers Planet Moon Studios, the quirky developer that "was founded in 1997 by the Shiny Entertainment team that created MDK", has gone on to make console/PC titles Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Armed & Dangerous, and is now "devoting itself to the [Sony] PSP exclusively." Loeb justifies this arguably risky move to the "unproven terrain of PSP development" by suggesting: "The PSP will enable a developer like us to make cutting edge games quickly, alleviating the challenge all small developers currently face", and argues the kind of games that will be successful on the PSP are "Games that focus on opportunity game play. Games that are really fun to play right away. You get them immediately, they're cool, you play them for 15 minutes and you've got a very satisfying experience." -
Sam & Max Hit The Road In Bonus Pre-Order
Thanks to 1UP for pointing out that the classic Sam & Max PC graphic adventure will be a bonus pre-order item for anyone reserving LucasArts/Planet Moon's wacked-out Xbox/PC shooter Armed & Dangerous. The article suggests: "PC adventure fans still venerate Sam & Max for its cool cartoon graphics and demented sense of humor", and this bonus disc, which includes a fully-compatible Windows talkie version of the classic title, also features a trailer to help promote the Sam & Max sequel, due on PC in early 2004. -
Planet Moon Gets MDK Band Back Together
I just noticed over at GameSpot that Planet Moon Studios has completed their set of MDK developers. They've got them all together to work on a new game called Armed & Dangerous, a third person shooter to be released by LucasArts. We covered Armed & Dangerous a while back, but now it looks like the last member of the team is back in the fold, fresh from working on Enter the Matrix. -
Armed And Dangerous - New Planet Moon-Developed Game
According to Gamespot, Lucasarts have announced Armed And Dangerous, an action game "with a twist of humor" for PC and Xbox. This is particularly notable because it's the new title from Planet Moon Studios, who were responsible for the excellent MDK while at Shiny, and went on to produce the interesting and cultish Giants: Citizen Kabuto for Interplay. Looks like this new title will turn up the quirkiness meter up significantly, too.
