Client List NOT Compromised!!!
What happened was that the spammer complied with instructions from Blue Security to download a program that washed Blue Security protected email addresses from the spammers' sucker list. When theis program was run on the spammer's email list Blue Security email addresses were purged. The spammer simply compared the purged list against his unpurged list and listed all the email addresses that were removed. He then sent the threatening emails to any email address that was purged from the original list.
Blue Security is up and running again. Not only will I continue to use the Blue Frog, I will also promote it now. I do not like bullies, and will do whatever I can to stop them. Blue Security and others that help people punch back against spammers should be commended. I myself have written a signed applet that also punishes spammers.
One can look at it by visiting http://www.plaza1.net/SpammerSlapper .
The applet is GPL, and the source code is embedded in the applet. If you do not want to actually punish spammers, do not accept the certificate. I am also thinking about creating a java application that works in a similar way to Blue Frog - only the complaint instructions will be distributed via a peer to peer protocol and cryptographically signed. Any ideas on this one? -
Distributed P2P Blue Frog Like Set Up
I am a member, and I got the email. I will stay a member as well. I also knew that spammers would eventually crack the Blue Security database even if it took such efforts as a physical break in. Spammers are running scared because some people decided to give them a dose of their own medicine. I would also like to say that I monitored all connections from the computer on which I have installed Blue Frog, and I have not seen the first spam sent as alleged by spammers.
It is simple to write a worm, trojan, or other peice of malware that sends spam or causes a DDOS. I could do it myself if I wanted to. However, I have ethics and choose to allow poeple that choice of using my software. I have written such offensive tools such as:
SpamFryer - A java application that allows a user to paste in website's URL and set the number of times that the URL is to be accessed. SpamFryer works with https URL's as well as with http URL's. The application's source code is embedded within the Java archive so that people can play with it and hopefully improve it. It is also a project on SourceForge.net SpamFryer can be downloaded via http://www.plaza1.net/SpamFryer.jar
SpammerSlapper - A signed java applet that causes the browser of a webpage visitor to repeatedly download URL's specified as parameters (can use http and https URL's). This applet can be used on any webpage, and I highly encourage people to use it on their personal webpages. Again, the source code is included in the Java archive. One must choose to accept the certificate if one wants to give the applet permission to access other websites. SpammerSlapper can be found at http://www.plaza1.net/SpammerSlapper . If you want to look at the webpage but not allow the applet to access other webpages, then click no when asked to accept the certificate. Otherwise, accept the certificate and slap some spamvertised pages.
SpammerSlammer - A simple cgi program that generates a real looking but fake name, address, phone number and test credit card numbers (known to pass typo checks but not allowed to be actually charged). The program works by accessing a zipcode and area code database. The rest of the information is randomly created. This is a great way to waste the time of many spam site operators. The URL for SpammerSlammer is http://www.plaza1.net/spammerslammer.cgi
I wonder what would happen if Google's phonebook was used to look up the names, addresses and phone numbers of well connected citizens (lawyers, judges, and politicians) and this information was entered into the forms on spamvertised pages. I wonder how many fines will be charged to these companies for violating the don not call list. I know that the information would have to be entered from an Internet cafe, or otherwise public system. If only a million users would take offensive action against only one spammer a day, spam will cease to be profitable.
Another idea might be a peer to peer version of Blue Frog. If a signed list of spamvertised sites was downloaded from peer to peer networks then the spammer scumballs would have no have no stationary target to attack. Rather than fowarding emails to Blue Security, users of Blue Frog could save the emails to a file and allow the peer to peer versions parse them when instructed to. The more spammers attack me, the more pissed off and aggravated I become, and the more I work to make their lives miserable. I called one spammer's toll free number about 800 times from different locations. I never received another spam from his company again. Spam will cease when it becomes unprofitable. The like of Blue Security will hopefully make it unprofitable. I believe that they are making a significant dent in spammers' profits, or else thay would never be attacked in this way. -

I like your pleadings
I like your pleadings. Unfortunately, 'we the people' have long ago made it a habit to depend on our enemies for sustanance. This is one reason we are in our situation today. Rather than working at supporting and depending on each other to meet our needs, we have turn to the likes of Verizon, Safeway, Walmart, Krogers, as well as governments. Before exercising our Second Amendment guaranteed RIGHT, we should stop to think about how we are going to meet our basic needs. Those who think that freedom will be earned by arms ( or cable cutters ) alone need to study history. Look at some countries in Central America or Africa. Many people of those countries struggled and fought to remove repressive governments only to find that the government they installed to be equally repressive. How many people today even know the family living a 1000 feet away or even the family living next door. I hat to say that in America, many do not. Technology has prograssed to the point to where we can conduct filesharing (news spools, movies, programs, music and so on) independent of the telephone cartels. A tremendous about of information can be held in a box of DVD's. Wireless routers, access points, and bridges can be used to transmit data from one point to another. Lasers can also transmit vast amounts of data. Even electric lines are now being used to pass information. Computers traveling (in an automobile) from one location to another can be used to convey information from one point to another. We are no longer dependent on monopoly controlled Internet to have information sharing in which anyone can be a producer or consumer. What is needed are people cooperating with each other to get the job done. For a world wide network, what is needed is protocol to specify the physical location of the information requester and information source. Participating computers in between can then be used to pass information onto the next point and so on. Shortcut links can be used where there are few obstructions. Computers that are nearby can also serve as source for information if they have the requested information on their harddrives. High speed, low cost information sharing networks can also be local. This type of network is know as a Muninet or Freewan ( http://www.plaza1.net/FreeWan ). The biggest step in regaining our freedom is to stop depending on those who stifle that freedom. I regards to the freedom of those who work daily to make ther people's lives miserable, ostricism is one way of dealing with the problem. Creative uses of technology is another way.

Remeber Alternic?
I remember when a few years agao that Internic had a monopoly on ALL REGISTRATIONS. Many people did not like the fees it was charging. Of course, since the only way to register a domain on the Internet was to go through Internic, Internic held all of the cards, and people were forced to pay its fees. That was until some had the bright idea of starting an alternate domain name registration system. All that is (basically) needed to set up a functional alternate domain name is a number of DNS servers with large bandwidth Internet connections and some persuasion to get people and ISP's to use these DNS servers. Of course this could cause mass confusion on the Internet if DNS systems did not respect each other's name to IP mappings.
This is almost what occured before Internic gave up its monopoly on Domain registration in the 90's. I believe that what is happening is that we are seeing a re-monopolization of Internet and telecommunication. The telcos are mergering as well as many different ISP's. Once this monoplolization is completed, the small voice will once again be drowned out. Yes, there will be those in Congress who will decry this re-monoplolization, but in the end, it will still happen.
There will be token concessions by the giant telcos as well as giant ISP's that will somewhat limit the power that these entities will wield, but eventually the eneviable will happen. All of this can be prevented, but it will take more than voicing ones opinion to congress and complaining to the press. It will take work and innovation by us average Joes.
Verizon recognizes the dangers (or true competition) presented by muninets, FreeNets, FreeWans, as well as other types of networks. This is why this company is purchasing legislation in order to prevent local governments from working to set up these types of networks. Average Joes do not have the legal force required to seize land in order to install buried cables, nor do the have access to taxpayer financed cables that have already been laid. There are many miles of "dark fiber" that has been laid but never activated by the telcos for Interet infrastructure, yet the average joes does not have the legal authority to use these resources.
What the average Joe does have is the ability to research and innovate. These average Joes include amateur (ham) radio operator as well as hackers. These are the type of people who can build local local wide area networks. Even when only a hundred different computer users are connected together, a vast wealth of information can be shared with withing the network. Combine local wide aread networks or FreeWan cells with "Sneakernets", then just about all filesharing needs can be met. A box full of DVD's packed with files can be a huge chunk of information! Muninet or FreeWan cells that have limited or no connection between them can still have information relayed between them via roving computers or the proverbial sneakernet. Of course, instant messaging, fast email, and many type of rapid communication between different networks is nearly impossible without relying on cartel controlled infrastructure, this may change in the future with enough innovation. Todays technology is more than sufficient to meet nearly all filesharing needs independently from the cartels.
My FreeWan cell is set up as a mini Internet. Visit http://plaza1.net/FreeWan to get a small taste of what can be made available for little cost. If one connects to my FreeWan Cell wirelessly, that person will quickly see an introduction to the FreeWan system when a URL is typed into their web browser. I provide the DNS from the top-level on down for my little area. If this does not sound impressive, then maybe the blazing transfer speeds will.
10 Mbit per second at 0 cost will. This is the type of speed that should be made available across the United States, However, rather than being limited by technology, we are limited by the greed of the cartels.

When some spammer connect to my server and send me crap that I have to pay to receive and store, I should be able to to the same to that person. When some spammer overloads my inbox with junk, then I have the same right to overload his/ her website with real looking but fake orders. Re:Well it won't be the deth bell or anything
That is what http://www.makelovenotspam.com/ was trying to do. It was trying to punish those who buy spamvertisement. I personally support Lycos in this effort. I also support http://www.friedspam.com/ and the creator of the Java program located at http://www.plaza1.net/SpamFryer.jar . If ISP's would do their job in reigning in zombie computers and such (simply by blocking port 25 access to the rest of the world by default). Users would not be forced to take drastic action.

Re:Lycos?
Here is another tool. This tool is just a proof of concept. To C.M.A. I cannot recommend people actually doing this
;-)
Download the java app (source is included in the jar file) http://www.plaza1.net/SpamFryer.jar
When you are spammed, just paste the URL of the spamvertised site into the URL box, enter the desired number of visits, and click start.
I'm not actually advocating people actually do this ;-) But if someone did, the spamvertised site will get visits (you don't even see the page). That is what the spammer want isn't it - visits? -
Here is another tool
I use a tool (written in Java) that I wrote. I tested it on my own webserver (not anyone elses). If you want to test your own webserver look at this one. http://plaza1.net/SpamFryer.jar you might have to right click this link and save it to desktop.
