Re:Official Word From LEGO

Re:Article Submiter Jumping to ConclusionsSerious LEGO and Mindstorms geek have been discussing this already on the Lego Robotics Mailing List.
The consensus is that LEGO probably will not stop production of Mindstorms, though they may drop from 'public' perception and possibly only be available through LEGO educations resellers like Pitsco Lego/Dacta.
I will not mourn the loss of the Harry Potter and other movie tie-in crap. Sounds too much like MBA-fodder and not the genius that makes Lego what they are. -
Lego/Technic in bulk
You can buy basic pieces in bulk from Lego Shop at Home, off the main Lego page. You cna buy some technic parts in bulk from Pitsco-Dacta.

Re:So how much would it cost to get into this?
In the past year I have fallen into the LEGO trap and buy quite a bit. It seems that I've become a piece collector [most pieces are sorted to the extreme] than a set collector. The RIS is a good set but you pay for the RCX unit. A little more money could get you a killer educational resource set.
I also find myself picking up those little sets they have now just to get a few extra gears or something.
Basically, it costs as much as having a killer computer system...you're always upgrading.

Re:Where to get rack pieces?
You can find all sorts of Lego pieces, including the racks you're looking for at http://www.pldstore.com. Go to the "Spare Parts, Tools & Resources" department. I've never ordered from them myself, but I know they've got LOTS of stuff to choose from!

Hmm...
This thing will more than likely cost between $1000-$2000 - I think I would rather spend the money on a Mindstorms set and some parts from Pitsco-Lego-Dacta, then head over here
Long live MIBO!!!
I support the EFF - do you?
