How about P2P TV?
it's impossible to find games on the internet.
I watch some live (actually 5 to 10 mins lag) football matches on P2P TV networks. In the past PPLive used to air football matches but all that has changed. Now, I depend on TVants. There are many other good P2P TV networks around that shows live football, so keep a lookout for them. -
FIFA live cast
In China, most of them don't pay for watching FIFA.
Don't blame them for pirating your content. They should really taking their standard of living when charging them the royalty. What RMB150 per month for FIFA watching? Fuck, some of them just earn less than RMB500 per month.
Life finds its way. You charge them what majority can't afford, majority looks for something free

Re:Bit Torrent for streaming
Very true, there are also a few pieces of software that already allow for the live streaming of TV including football too. Including TVKoo, PPStream, PPLive and Sopcast. Although they can be laggy, they stream TV feeds from the far east and for English football fans without access to satellite TV if you are lucky they can provide an excellent resource for live Engligh Premier League football!

My experience: Upstream is critical
I've been playing around with this service lately: http://www.pplive.com/. It works relatively well -- I'm sure that it would work a lot better for me if there were more North American users. Apparently a lot of soccer ("football") fans use it. There are a couple dozen p2p streams of Chinese TV and radio. If only there were a few more English stations. =)
The client looked a little sketchy at first, so I have been running it in a VMWare client. But that was me being rather paranoid.
Streams take a while to buffer. Plus, it's tougher than regular P2P because the data expires after a minute or two (it's a live stream, remember). So it really depends on your upstream bandwidth. If you can't upload at least enough for 1 other person, you're a drain on the network! And, like BT, you're relying on charity if you're not pulling your own weight. My max upstream is around 300kbps - barely enough to do a 1:1 ul/dl raio. A lot of the time I'm depending on charity of others who have more upstream, and when bandwidth is scarce, I just can't get a stable stream.
Oh, if you want to give it a try, CCTV4 is the state sponsored English language station. -

For those who understand Chinese
I'm watching the CCTV-1 live broadcast of the launch.
Download the following program:

It's a p2p TV program that has many Chinese TV channels. You also need Windows media player 10. -
until the bandwith onus is relieved...
creativity is going to be limited to those few that can afford to host large video files. Ive seen a few good possible solutions that take a bittorrent like approach and utilise peoples upstream to reduce the server load. http://www.pplive.com/ (chinese) http://www5.pplive.com/english/ (chinglish) This actually works pretty well, there's a large number of channels (although mostly in chinese, although HBO is there in english aswell as espn asia and alot of other sport channels which show english football games http://www.asiaplate.com/live.today.htm http://s2.forumforfree.com/index.php?mforum=freef
o otballstr&act=idx ) and coolstreaming whos website seems to be down at the moment -

Re:Bittorrent-like streaming protocol?
I believe many Chinese in the states are using a software called http://www.pplive.com/ to watch quasi-live TV programs of TV channles broadcasted in mainland China. The core idea is a bittorrent-like streaming protocol that allows peers to serve each w.r.t live bit streams. The tools effectively solved the scalability problem of centralized live streaming. And it is free.
The software has also been used by many college kids in Chinese universities to watch soccer games and big shows while IMing with buddies at the same time on a computer screen in the dorm.
