Advertising is so 90's
Do they still have advertising on the Internets ? , even Symantec block them in their products thesedays
thats what happens when you ram them down peoples throats, gone are the days of doing the web for fun , everybody is so motivated by greed that the best they can come up with for a billion connected computers is advertising, sad really -
Adblock alternative in Opera
The AdBlocker.css file works like a charm. Check out the "Opera config files". When coupled with the autoproxy option in eDexter, and a nice hosts file, you get an excellent AdBlock replacement.

Re:extensions ... adblock?
then use a Hosts file, that combined with adblock and eDexter means i havent seen an advert/banner on yahoo in months !

The remedy
Firefox + adblock + hosts file + edexter = fast advert free browsing

Re:Webwasher Classic
using any proxy based ad-blocker (junkbuster etc) disables Hosts files (at least it does on Win), Adblock just rewrites the content without the need to proxy it,retaining Hosts file blocking functionality (or corporate usage of Hosts files) combined with a local clear.gif server and you have fast advert free browsing without the need to mess about with proxy settings or disable network features
Oh and its all free , Corp & Private -

Re:There's a fix for this
Hello,
eDexter is a pretty darn good program.
In addition to the Windows version, there is also a Java version of the program available called eDexter Java Dog which runs under Linux, MacOS, etc. available from the same site.
Note, though, that this isn't the author's actual web site, which has several other interesting programs on it, like DNS Kong.
Regards,
