Re:Structual integrity
To take an example from the GP, Android was (is) poor for game development until the later 2.3 Gingerbread release. Offline mode isn't a technologically blocking issue -- neither were games really -- but it will see eventual focus. Fortunately for you, most of the support work is already done. Google probably didn't want to do the boring app legwork until the fundamental issues are ironed out.

Re:Rage for Android?
What you say is true and is a significant obstacle for high end gaming on Android. Google however have finally addressed most if not all of these issues in Gingerbread. Now it's just a waiting game until there's enough of an installed 2.3 base to make high-end development worthwhile.

A lot of TV's/BluRays support DLNA
Grab a cheaper bluray player that supports DLNA, or if you have DirecTV the newest updates for some of the units with ethernet jacks support DLNA.. hell even a lot of TV's now do.. Plug bluray/tv/directv receiver into your LAN, setup a DLNA server, and you're done. Period.

There's a few helpful links for you. No need for a PC for the client side, and can setup the DLNA server on a choice of OS's. Don't over-complicate things -
I called this one nearly a month ago
I submitted to Slashdot but apparently you guys weren't interested yet

From my article:
After having read the article about a new USPS surcharge that could cut into Netflix's profits I got to thinking about the future of movie rentals. If you're a Netflix customer and haven't tried their streaming video service, I recommend you give it a shot. I've noticed the weak selection of titles available on it and can only imagine that it must be a licensing issue with the MPAA or specific rights-holder. While I enjoy their online video-watching service, I don't enjoy watching movies on my laptop as much as on my TV and I also don't enjoy having to plug my laptop into my TV. There is a feasible solution for all of this covering concerns like licensing agreements (giving consumers better selection) to proper television integration (no more laptops plugged into the TV.) Read on to find out how I see a successful movie rental business operating in the near future.... Full Article (Online Movie Rentals 2.0)
