Re:Buckets of urine
dude, the police lie to the media all the time. They confiscate shit like toy bow and arrows and claim them as weapons.
Here's an example of one protest organizer's experience with Montreal police:
"I was charged with
participating in a riot, breach of conditions, and possessing a
dangerous weapon: a teddy-bear launching catapult. I was
detained for 17 days in prison before winning bail. During
various court hearings while I was in detention, police
witnesses and crown attorneys alleged that I was the leader
of the demonstration, and that the catapult was used to
launch rocks and Molotov cocktails. One officer testified under
oath that the teddy bears could have transformed into
Molotovs (no joke). The police did "ballistics tests" on the
catapult which were recorded on video, after the catapult
was seized from an affinity group from Ottawa (the
"Lanark-ists") by the police." source linkI'd really like to see the evidence they gathered for these protests presented. In many cases, the evidence provided to media doesn't hold in court...

FCheck or anti-keylogger may help?
More info here:

I don't know if will stop a keystroke logger, but it is a cool idea, nonetheless: http://www.kittytech.com/defaultx.html -
Why use SHA at all?
As I have not installed linux or solaris for over a year now, so I cannot comment on either of them... But I do know that all the *BSD's, at least, have native support for Blowfish (everything from user passwords to SSH, apache, java, etc).
Having found this and other comparisons, I see little reason to use SHA (any of the versions of it) for anything. Blowfish (BFS) has military grade strength and is insanely fast to compute. While the newer versions of SHA (-256 & -512) might be significantly more secure than SHA-1, they're still dog slow compared to BFS.
For all my encryption tasks I make sure to use BFS. Just my 2 cents. -
Re:canada anybody?
You may reconsider. Election day is june 28th and Canada is about to fall under the reign of a new right wing ultra conservative party..
Forget civil liberties under Stephen Harper. He wants to judge a 14 years old like an adult, let the US bring their nuclear missiles here, invade irak, police the internet, etc. Just have a look here and here -
I really hate to say it
but mr inoshiro has a good point.*cringe*
with rent, the amount you owe is dependant upon how long you live*, and is just as nasty if not worse than debt that has been acknowledged elsewhere.
except that in some cases it is much worse, because if you do not keep up in your payments you find yourself without shelter, and if you are lucky enough to live anywhere similar to here(saskatchewan), you freeze to death...
debt on the other hand, just grows more and more unmanigable.
take for example my old apartment. at 280$ per month, 12 months a year, for 100 years of renting would have meant roughly 336,000$ of debt, which must be paid off in the installments that the rentor wishes, or higher...
and by the way, it takes more than debt to enslave someone.
if you really wanted to do that, you would need to take a hold of something else that they need in their life, for example, the small 10X10 room that keeps them from freezing to death when they aren't allowed to be at work(see above),
OR alternatively to take hold of their wage or job security, so that they must do your bidding otherwise be eternally enslaved in another way.
if anything, however, rent is MORE debt than any other debt you may be able to imagine, because unlike other debt, that you can try to overlook, there is an automatic, expected result of not paying your rent. freezing to death or loss of livingspace.
on the other hand, all of this is really just different heads of the same beast---the stuff that people without mountains of cash can be persuaded to do horrible and terrifying things with. fuck capitalistic tyrrany!
*how long you live under rule of this rentor
and to keep from being moderated offtopic too many times,... i am visiting my parents in saskatoon [from regina, saskatchewan, canada]. i took a shower the day i got back, but when i got out i noticed my pants were all missing!!! it seems my parents dont appreciate the grunge-GNU/Hippie-not_quite_homeless look i have inherited lately...so they turned most of my clothes to rags.
so i got socks, pants, and underwear to replace my other clothes upon return. So as a christmas\birthday present, i got to have my parents dress me for two weeks :\ -
terrorists
terrorists are motivated by embitterred love. they are not fighting a human enemy, with feelings and fear --- they are fighting an inhumane monster, possibly evil, in the case of the islamists, they see us as decedance, evil, and sexual perversion _in carnate_, spilling our corrupt semen on their land and hearts. until you understand this you have no hope of understanding that, there are linux/OpenSourceSoftware users, that are very stressed over the ongoing oppression of many peoples from large multinational conglomerates and other entities not worth mentioning in specific --- what would you do if enough politicians were greased that linux became illegal to use? what would you do if it became a felony to use an open source operating system? a felony to view source without a liscence? illegal to even talk about software algorythms that are under copyright? what then? would you join with the rest ofthe brewing resistance and begin to resist? would you, when red/martial law is declared indefinitely, be willing to stand up and fight to restore lost freedoms? to vanquish the monster that has ruined the greatness that was your country? perhaps some of this may not apply if you live in a country with sane laws, and sane lawmakers. i assume, quite possibly incorrectly that you live in the states, canada, the UK or australia, and with a possible kindred sympathy if you live in china or some nearby-china place.

Re:I think it's harder for single people
The majority of people that immigrate to Canada then immigrate to the US, many Canadians are too stupid to notice this.
heh.. most Canadians are probably too easy-going to care. Except the ones at the border.. if you get past them it's because of their stupidity, and every other person in Canada is probably cheering you on anyway.
(Unless you're Arab, or a programmer, in which case why not just stay in Canada, where at least CSIS and other law enforcement does its job and keeps people safe, instead of "stopping all but one" in order to have a great excuse to go to war, restrict civil rights, and augment military presence in strategic portions of the Middle East)
btw.. i saw your epilogue under copy a floppy, and noticed that the article count at -1 was 666... how ominous - maybe your ideas of mass-extermination of specific portions of the human race will come to pass? Even better, maybe they will get moderated as 5 - informative.
