Pink Floyd should suePrior art:
2nd December, 1976: Hipgnosis photo shoot for "Animals" at Battersea Power Station in London. An inflatable pig breaks free and (depending on which story you believe) is shot down by a marksman or eventually comes to earth in a field in Kent.

Re:Shameless commercial plug for LANRoamer
Agreed. In support of this, we provide a free courtesy LANRoamer account to anyone who runs an open access point that meets the other LANRoamer criteria (up most of the time, in our coverage maps, technical contact info provided, etc.).
I don't think this policy is on our web page yet, but it will be soon and we publicly stated it in our presentation at the last sbay.org meeting, and possibly in our presentation at the last Bay Area Wireless User Group meeting.

Re:Excellent idea.Hi, ThohT. I've visited your site several times and am impressed with its content and your service offerings. A question I have for you is, how can you financially support your network? Please understand that I'm not wanting to sound like a smartass; I'm simply trying to understand how it'll stay operational without funds.
I'm sincerely impressed with the various community wireless networks that are around (yours, http://www.pdxwireless.org, http://www.sbay.org, http://www.sflan.com, http://www.seattlewireless.org, etc.) and would love to gain a better understanding about their operations. I'm also in the process of starting a fixed wireless service and would really like to gain a community feeling (almost a "cult" feel to it) around it, if I can.
But, I also want to make enough to support the network and not lose my shirt in the process.
Any advice you might offer would be most appreciated.
Thx much!

- Outside the U.S.
- Canberra Wireless Network (Australia)
- Elektrosmog (Sweden)

Open Internet Message Protocol
When I first heard about the Open Internet Message Protocol (OIMP), I thought this was what it was supposed to do--unify the several diverse messaging standards available on the internet. But looking at it's website, I'm not sure much of anything is going to come out of it. Anyone know more...?
