Linux Web Pad Correction
-
Yeah, uh-huh. These are just like...Riiiiight. These are just like all of those Linux-powered touch-screen web pads I have been waiting 5 years for. *cough* freepad All of the "designs" look awesome, but until they produce an actual product, they can bite me. And just redesigning the website every year doesn't fool me.
(and I personally don't think that these watches are all that great looking)

Re:public internet accessActually almost all "touch screens" is a monitor with a touch sensitive panel added after production. And it's the touch sensitive panel that is prohibitively expensive compared to a keyboard.
I actually spent a lot of time last year working on the specs for the Freepad, and one of the hardest tasks we faced was finding a cheap touch sensitive panel and cheap LCD screens - finding cheap supplies of the other components was trivial in comparison.

Still holding out for ScreenMediaI don't know about you all, but I'm still holding out for something like the ScreenMedia device that was discussed a few months ago on Slashdot.
I want to be able to read the Wall Street Journal on-line edition and Slashdot at the breakfast table, or in bed, or on the couch without having to worry about a keyboard and mouse. The ScreenMedia device seems to be the perfect wireless solution.
Anyone have new information? Their website looks the same as it did months ago...
