Re:Damnit
Unauthorized computer access was made a felony in the late 90s. Unauthorized computer access was also labeled 'terrorism' by the so-called Patriot Act. But these unauthorized accesses are defacto protected by the current federal govt. because they are commercial(tm) and are not prosecuted like a lone pimply cracker defacing a commercial(tm) website would be.
It is said that the creators of the Sobe and workalike viruses also created this commercial(tm) and openly available bulk-email package which anyone can use to send their commercial(tm) spam through infected, cracked computers. Send-safe.com sells their spamware via unregulated, greedy Visa and MasterCard networks, and is hosted openly in uunet/MCI/Worldcom netspace.
A large bank of PCs running send-safe for a non-commercial(tm) (terrorist) purpose could bring the internet to its knees.

Re:Just...By the way, maybe we should give the distributors of the Send-Safe software a call. They are, after all, very proud of their spam-sending software that rapes other peoples' computers. I'm sure they'd be happy to answer questions.

Avast, slashbots!
Let's all go visit the guy. Even if he didn't write Sobig, he's still developing software for spammers.

Re:Fscking God!
Heh, they've noticed your link - it redirects back to yro.slashdot.org
:)
For those of you who might still want to go have a look at these bastards, and, I dunno, maybe refresh the page a couple of dozen times while you read their blurb, here's another link to those fuckers.
Enjoy :)

Re:Fscking God!
Point of information: The biggest page I've seen so far is their on-line manual. From what I have seen of it (browser is still working on it), it is quite a pretty document, replete with plenty of helpful screenshots. They really should break it up into separate pages to cut down on the bandwidth
... for the sake of those users on dialup, I mean :-)
It is also interesting to see how the whole thing works. Scary stuff.

Re:Fscking God!
Please, there is no reason to advocate such drastic actions. But I did take up your suggestion to pay a visit.
I connected eventually, but their server is really slow, for some reason :-) I don't know how they can be running a high bandwidth operation like global spamming through there. Maybe it is throttled somehow until you sign up? According to the domain registry, it is located in Moscow, quite a few hops from where I am, so maybe it's just me.
There are lots of addresses and a phone number on their contact page.
The screenshots are interesting. Examples include sending through earthlink and comcast, and you can (optionally :-)) not send e-mail to addresses with certain strings, such as ".mil", ".gov", "spam", "abuse", "postmaster", etc. It also apparently recognizes blocks due to blacklists. They have a separate (shareware) program to check for honeypots, where they comment ""Honey pots" are fake proxies run by the people who are attempting to frame bulkers..." What a mentality. Yeah, I'd be really sympathetic to chronic burglars who complain "But I didn't steal anything" when arrested for entering an unlocked house. -

Re:Fscking God!
Well, at least we've succeeded in taking them down temporarily via slashdotting. And you can count on this story appear 3 or 4 more times in the next couple days. Maybe we should just get Taco to run the story daily to shut these dudes down.
Do your part to bop spammers: click here -
Fscking God!
Have a look at the botton of the screenshot pay a visit for the "Send Safe" home page.
Would somebody PLEASE just kill those fuckers?
To sell such a program should be considered a crime for itself!
And have a look at the testimonials... Gosh... we are doomed.

Other sites to check out...
Another poster mentioned Send Safe. Seems like an interesting company to look into...
Particularly interesting is info on their open proxy scanner.
The domain registrar is Gandi and here is their whois info.
Looks like a nice Russian front for the company.

Hit 'em where it hurts
If you want to get rid of the spammers you are going to need to get rid of companies like this
If they can't just point and click there will be a lot less spammers just trying to make a quick buck. -
Her is a list of Spammers Privat E-mail enjoy..
DHS (The Distributed Home Spamming DHS Club)
Ok, I did not know what this was, but as my servers are under a storm of port scans from Send-Safe send-safe and I was trying to find out some information I found this DHS DHS Web site Scary , who will be the first that Put them out?
Also it clear that they are using slow and bad admin's to run their "bizz." UUNET/Worldcom is the DHS Club's current Internet connectivity provider. They have a reputation of failing to aggressively enforce their posted Terms of Service.
Oh, why not drop the DHS members an E-mail E-mail address list
Are we losing the fight Spam software ??
