Re:I hope they keep AM on...
Perhaps someone at EIB thinks not everybody receiving Mr. Limbaugh's show thinks the convenience is worth $219 per year for the first receiver and $146 per year for each additional receiver.
That's $15 per month for the first receiver and $10 per month for each additional receiver, plus 13.9% music royalty cost recovery fee, plus state sales tax on the order of 7% that varies from one jurisdiction to another.

Re:FM radio's last gasp?
That was what I did when my XM/Sirus trial ran out. I couldn't see spending $20 a month for radio when I spend a bit more than that on my cell phone.

Re:Good
What I hear a lot in various small businesses is Sirius. Seems like a good deal if music/dancing/night club is not the primary purpose of your business.

Re:Broadcast Radio? Eeew....
Where? A basic music package is $10/month:

Re:Streaming in a vehicle
Siriusly (sic)? And even if you don't want to pay $10-13 a month for that, is there a problem with listening to Pandora on your computer and clicking the buy link on tracks that you think you might want to listen to in the car? Or maybe you can hop on over to a mall and grab some albums out of FYE, or if you're more rural even Wal-mart has some. Of course, if you're more rural, how many FM stations do you actually get? And what kind of variety can you pull? And if you don't want to have to pay for the music...well I'm sure there's a few pirating options left.
And personally the FM stations tend to have too many commercials for me to be able to enjoy any real music time on my commute. Generally after every 3rd song there's about 10 minutes worth of commercials, and the way the stations tend to time it, I wind up catching the commercials at the start of the commute, have a few tunes in the middle, and finish up the rest of the commute with more commercials. It's also no sense in listening to FM in the mornings since all the rock stations around here play John Boy and Billy.
tl;dr: I much prefer the drone of the engine to any of the torture that local FM has to offer.

Re:Predictions about the service
Better prediction: DirecTV provides internet-connected wifi set-top boxes that get your DirecTV subscription over the internet, not over an expensive network of geostationary satellites that require a line-of-site dish on the roof and cabling. See: Sirius Satellite Radio, where the "satellite" in the name is becoming less relevant. They can then add unlimited on-demand movies as a service, instead of just a few PPV channels where you have to wait for the time the movie starts.
