Re:Major missing point...
Freeside (http://www.sisd.com/freeside) includes an integrated ticketing system based on RT, as well as invoicing, customer tracking and so on. HTH.

Re:Just an idea...
... get something that was made by someone/some company that worked on it for 10 years doing nothing but that, then customise it
We've spent the last 10 years working on open-source software you can customize to do this... http://www.sisd.com/freeside/

Freeside?Maybe you should take a look at Freeside. It's aimed at ISP management, so it has most of the functions you'll need, plus it's pretty easy to extend so you could have it set up to provision your VOIP services. If you have a perl guy around it would be easy.
I played with it for a while but the bosses where I work went with anther, Windows-based management system, that has as yet proven too difficult and unstable to actually put into production.

Re:some suggestions.Hi, Carl. See you made it to
/. too! Very cool!
Concerning billing, you might want to check out Freeside which is an open-source billing application based on Perl and MySQL:
It might do the job for your billing infrastructure and would do it for free!

Linux ISP Billing Packages (Somewhat offtopic)I know this isn't directly related to the post, however deserves mention. I am doing contract work for our local ISP. He's expanding and needs a billing system to scale with his expansion. We went with a really nice package called:
which requires purchasing a user license. Another package (GPL'd, but not quite as "bells and whistles" complete) is:
Anyways, I hope that helps some people. Who knows, Freeside may even be flexible enough to be a POS system.

Freeside Solutions
I'm not sure if the reader in question actually realised this, but SISD do offer commercial services. Yes, you have to pay for them. They include preconfigured machines, installation, customization and training. The webpage to said commercial services can be found here. If freeside is ugly to you, ask them to customize it. If you cant get freeside to install, get them to. If you dont have to pay $$$ to buy the software, then there will be room in your budget for this, wouldnt there?
