Re:Yes, there is definitely something "wrong"
Install "Social Fixer" and have it hide all political posts. https://socialfixer.com/
Saves my sanity every time I login to FB. -
Re:They do have some kind of limit
JackieBrown complained:
There are a few things I follow tech side (mainly related to home automation). I see allot of useful stuff and comments but it is next to impossible to go back and find the post I was reading to unless I actually respond. And even that seems to disappear. (I miss forums.) It also sorts strangely. It's not by date or number of comments - at least it doesn't appear so.
Two things may help you here:
1. Social Fixer. It's available for Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox, and it lets you change a lot of the default behavior of FB (and other SM sites) in ways that make it a lot more user friendly. (Caution: FB frequently changes its code, sometimes in ways that break some of Social Fixer's functions - most notably CTRL+ENTER to post comments - but Matt Kruse, the developer, usually manages to figure out what happened and get a minor rev out to restore the fubared functionality pretty quickly.)
2. You can use "Save link" from the drop-down menu at the top right corner of each post. That allows you to "save" a copy of the post that you can access by opening the Activity Log page from the drop-down menu that looks like a little upside-down triangle in the FB menu bar (if you have SF installed, it's at the top of your screen, otherwise you have to scroll all the way to the top of the page - or just open a new FB window), then click MORE in the Filters menu on the left side, and, finally, click Saved, at the bottom of the list.
And, no, FB doesn't make it easy - but it IS possible

Re:stupid idea
This already happens according to some Farcebook algorithm.
MANY users[who?] detest this and opt for "Most Recent" instead of "Top Stories". It's one of the reasons extensions such as FB Purity and Social Fixer exist.
Right now I do most of my Farcebook interactions through Tinfoil for Facebook. There's also a version for Twitter. Having "social" media in its own browser cut off from the rest of your system means you don't have to install "Messenger" to use chat and more importantly, it can't be written to by any pissant program that fancies using your normally logged in account. -
Re:Streisand Effect?
Okay, this is what I've done. IF you use FB, please feel free to copy / modify / use it.
----Facebook has a problem. I'm trying to amplify it a bit.
It seems that Facebook doesn't like this particular webbrowser extension http://socialfixer.com/
So they have banned people for posting links to it and such. If you think that Facebook shouldn't ban people for posting links to Browser Extensions, please share. FYI, this extension does not harm Facebook, and doesn't use any feature or service offered by Facebook. They are just upset that you can change how Facebook looks and behaves.
So, please "reshare"

Re:Not Surprising at all!
Facebook got rid of something that...
They've only got rid of it from Facebook. It's still alive and kicking at its own website.
-
It pretty clearly violates the TOS
From his own FAQ:
Q: Can Social Fixer hide the Sponsored ads?
A: Yes, just click on the "X" in the upper right of the box, and all boxes with the same title will be hidden every time you load a page.If your product interferes with Facebook's revenue stream, don't try hosting it on Facebook. Zucko's done some creepy things with that site but shutting down this project is hardly surprising.

Re:This is for your own good!
You don't need a Safari extension to banish them. Social Fixer does this, and more. You can also use it to filter out the "SomebodyI'veNeverHeardOf is posting about SomeThingILiked" crap. It supports Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Greasemonkey. It's pretty neat.

Re:What a coincidence!
Unfortunately, neither of those really work entirely (or at all? I have both and am not able to see any effects on FB), since the ads are pretty well integrated into the platform. socialfixer is an answer, but it's not ideal (nor is there a mobile analog that I know of).

Re:Freemium at its best
http://socialfixer.com/ will fix that.

Re:FTC is doing a good job
Now, maybe someone at Facebook will read this and notice: Please fix the chat so that if I have set it offline, it will not quickly popup me as online and then back offline when I later visit Facebook. It seems like a stupid bug. It also leads to stupid private messages (especially from my mother -_-) when I just want to check updates.
Install Social Fixer and use "Automatically force chat logout on every page load" under the Chat options. It fixed that "bug" for me, even though Social Fixer sometimes has its own little bugs.
