Cellphones have had voice control for ages
why is everyone suprised that a mp3 player has voice control ?, cellphones here in the UK have had that technology for ages, but now they are moving just beyond "call pizza" to built in mp3 players and radios , at current speed of development its gonna be this year they merge these technologies and we end up with a voice controlled mp3 player with pda and cellphone with built in cameras ! yay, the end is near for all these fragmented devices and we will soon have that device we all want that fits in our pockets and does everything in one single device :) -
Re:mp3 watch...
Speaking of looking weird, I was thinking of getting a bluetooth headset for my new Sony Ericsson T68 cell phone. But the fact that they didn't even have the guts to show a picture of someone using it sort of tipped me off to the weirdness factor. What turned me off in the end, though, was the price tag... which rivals that of the phone itself.

Re:Screw 3G - I want useful 2G
Publicity aside, why don't you try an ericsson t68 , it as everything you might need and unlike other ericssons (e.g. t28, and others is actually reliable) personally I have a t39m, apart from the antenna the mobile is perfect.

Re:Drat, no 1900MHz support
You know, the Sony-Ericsson T68 is also a pretty neet little color thing. It also has the advantage of being a 3-band GSM phone. Color display, BlueTooth and all sorts of other neet stuff. Almost got one on my last trip to Europe (ended up getting a T39m though due to $ reasons. As cool as it was I couldn't quite convince myself to pay the extra $ for a color display).

Re:bluetooth wireless headset?Can you post a link ?
Sort of...
It's an Ericsson HBH-10 Bluetooth headset coupled with an Ericsson R520m triband phone. But the new Sony-Ericsson web-site has been designed by some flash-nut so after a certain point the URL stays the same.
Furthermore, I couldn't find the phone on the US version of the website. That doesn't mean that it is not on the market in the US judging from the Ericsson newsgroup, just that Ericsson won't tell you about it.
So here is the link to the UK website. The headset is found under accessories.
BTW, nice website you've got.

Ericsson R380s and Rabbit developer kit.
I've been looking at two toys : 1) An Ericsson R380s or R380e mobile phone that runs the Psion OS.
2) A microcontroller with ethernet. No it won't run linux. (It's supposed to be small). But it's dead cheap. Developer kit is here and a single module is here . Documentation and stuff is all online.
I have neither of these but they seem to be fun. -
Re:the state of computingWe're still doing all that, in the embedded/telecom/PDA sector.
Home computers are as far as I'm concerned, dead. I want something for my home-cinema set that allows me to browse the web, read my email and do my banking. I also want a PDA/phone combo that I always carry with me, about the size of the Ericsson T68 where I can be reached via Instant Messaging, check my net-synched calendar etc.
Playing games? Dedicated machinery - just as I have separate components for playing DVDs, amplifying sounds and decoding digital cable.
... I work full-time as a software engineer. I _hate_ going home to yet another one of those hated machines that make a lot of noise, look ugly in my living room and tries to be everything but not really good at anything. PCs.
