I guess I'll do timothy's job
Starbreeze Studios has taken wraps off of StarVR, a new VR headset with dual displays comprising a 210 degree horizontal field of view with a total resolution of 5120x1440. The headset's origins come from InfinitEye, a company working on a super-wide dual-display headset back in 2013, which went into stealth mode for quite some time before being reborn as StarVR in partnership with Starbreeze Studios. The studio is the developer behind the Payday franchise, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and now 'Overkill's The Walking Dead', which will have a VR component utilizing the new headset.

Re:Political trial
Yeah, Sweden has no game producers...

And in these days of ever increasing surveillance, a desire for freedom of privacy (the main focus of Piratpartiet) is 6-year old reasoning of course...
Maybe I should add a 'lol' or something to lend credence to my post... -
Re:The ads on TFA say it all

Give credit to the developer...If Chronicles of Riddick is good, all that means is the developer actually cared about the product and had the imagination and talent to pull it off. It's that simple.
The underlying problem is still and will always be there- games based on movies tend to be promotional tie-ins first, games second.

don't overlook the studio
it doesn't hurt that the studio puts out high quality games. looking up the titles they have listed on their website at gamerankings, you'll see that all of them are rated >50%, with several very high individual reviews. So releasing high quality games, either original content or based on a movie tie-in, isn't something that's all that surprising. This might just be an example of a good company getting chosen to design the game, and just implementing what they know is good game design...

Re:Why are you using Winamp to play XM's anyway?
I hereby award you +1 from my phantom mod points! You may be interested in the WSP Module Player Plugin for Winamp 5 which improves the accuracy of music module playback.
To play tracker modules I'd still opt for Modplug Player over a mysterious Winamp plugin, because from the composer's perspective, the crucial thing is that the listener hears their tune as it was intended to be heard. It's one of the problems inherent in module formats that although the size of the files are relatively small (which allowed the scene to take off in a big way over BBS's), the output depends so much on the player you use (unlike MP3 for example which uses standard decoding algorithms across players).
In fact, if I'm gonna play the role of a total purist, the only real way to listen to a module is either:
1) To play it in the tracker in which it was originally composed (Fast Tracker 2 for XM's, Impulse Tracker for .IT's, etc.)
2) To play an MP3 version of the tune, which was created from a WAV file that was output in said tracker
Many composers (well before the scene kinda died :) release their stuff in both MP3 and the original tracker format. PLUG ALERT: As do I (MP3's / modules.

Re:Future Crew
You mean, Max Payne? There hasn't really been anything closer to a Future Crew game than that. You can read the FAQ here to learn where their members are now.
You were possibly thinking about Triton, which went on to form Starbreeze Studios. They have released a few games already. -
Re:Off topic but related - Prey
The producers of Into the Shadows are a alive and well, but has renamed themselves to Starbreeze Studios. They have yet to release a game at all, so they could be the next Ion Storm, but if they haven't lost their previous skills (They designed Crystal Dreams I and II (very good demos from a technical point of view) and the awesome FastTracker II composer software) they could still surprise a bit.
Or, they might end up like their companions in Future Crew who formed a hardware company which for several years now have promised that they'll make a graphics chip that can outperform everything else on the market.
But I hope both of them (Both Starbreeze and Bitboys) manage to deliver. That'd be awesome.
Oh. About Prey? Well, rumors are 3DRealms are working on a second game to come after Duke Nukem Forever - even if it's not Prey, I bet it's something based off the Prey engine. -
Yeap, ITS rocked
It was written in pascal too. (Use "unp" to unencrypt the
.exe)
Here's a link with a bit of history: http://www.starbreeze.com/triton.htm
Unfortunately you'll have to run it under DOS with OUT any 386 memory managers.
