Re:Thief & System Shock
This might be a good time to have another go -- someone recently released a rather clever patch that gives SS1 standard FPS controls, including mouselook.

Re:Look at System Shock 2
There are a number of fan patches for SS2. Somf of them vastly improve the graphics (pix here).
I found Bioshock to be much like Oblivion. Both are graphically stunning but are much lesser games than their predecessors, SS2 and Morrowind.

Re:Bioshock and System ShockGet the hi-res textures! http://shtup.home.att.net/ There's other links as well, and many other mods like the Rebirth mod - http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,8.0.html System Shock was great, and I agree, in my opinion it is better than SS2, but only just. Unfortunately, it is so old now it is painful to look at. I so wish they would remake it, sadly it is not going to happen.

Re:Alternative title to this new post
Ah, well, you said SS2. It's been way too long since I've played SS1 to say anything about that. It may be sprites.
If you ARE interested in better SS2 graphics, there's actually two projects that improve them:
Improved AI models
Improved objects
I haven't tried either of them myself, but I'm downloading both of them right now. -

Re:Yerp. Figure it Out, Already.
Can't help with the sequel but System Shock has been packaged up nicely to work with XP. There's a thread about it here.
Mind you, I'm running just the CDSHOCK.EXE and not !START.EXE. The mouse cursor is a little slow but it works great. If you have issues, try both. More trouble? Check the thread.
Can't say I understand the Fire Emblem saves (never played). You get a main save at the start/end of each chapter and, basically, a save anywhere so long as you quit which, upon loading, gets wiped? Sounds like it works.
