Re:Spinning Space stations
Also, there aren't any fighter aircraft which fold their wings for storage that I can think of.
Think harder.

Re:No
Perhaps a better analogy would be approaching this guy and trust him.
I just visit trusted sites and open files from trusted people (and when we're talking about computers, that doesn't necessarily includes my mom).
Since I bought my last laptop, with vista, I never installed an AV because I didn't mind what happened to it, I had no valuable information. I had one AV free for the company I work for, installed it, and turned out no virus.
So my conclusion is, you need an AV directly proportional to your knowledge about computers and the knowledge of your close "online" friends. I've seen intruders running DoS attacks from unprotected "user" accounts on Mac OS. -
Re:WRONG
Hmm, was I that obvious that you spotted me so soon? I though we had it going there for awhile, but now I give up!
At least we had some fun, right?

Btw, [kosmos] means 'space' in Greek; hence the Cosmonauts -
Re:Strategy?
I have met lots of people that say they love Mac hardware and design but hate the operating system. I would think Apple would probably try to appeal to them.
Really? That's almost exactly the opposite of what most people say... "Oh, I love the UI and OS, but I'm sure not paying an extra [$100 / $500 / $1000] for their hardware!"
"lots of people he has met" and "most people" are not necessarily intersecting sets.
For example, a lot of people are in mensa (random example). Most people are not.
Therefore it is entirely possible lots of people will pay extra for hardware, expanding Apple's hardware base. You disprove your own argument here:
So, would someone pay an extra hardware fee just to have a funky looking hardware design that runs Windows (gamerz not withstanding; I guess they've demonstrated that people will, but we're talking mainstream here.)
No, no we're not talking mainstream. We're talking people that like Mac hardware but want to run Windows, much like the gaming community. If that is ten people then that is ten more sales. Apple is not planning on chucking OSX so that is irrelevant.
You are right, without OSX and all the doo-dads it is just a pretty looking box. Do not underestimate the capacity some people have to pay extra for a pretty looking box.
In summary: small percentage != small number, and expanding the pool of potential consumers is a good thing. -
No 2nd Backup?
What happens if something bad goes wrong and they lose the first crew? They only have one other backup.

GWB != JFK
Give me a break. The president's speech was ripped from the history books and was borrowed from JFK's famous "moon speech". GWB's Mars speech was nothing more than spin and diversion to take our attention off the war in Iraq, crappy economy, gay marriage, and war profiteering being done Haliburton, the company where Cheney was the ex-CEO.
If the Mars mission would have failed, there never would have been speech. However, check out the shocking pictures from the rover. Looks like the corporations have already taken over Mars too. -
Re:who can stop this?Who can stop this? Plain and simple, the voters
Do you remember our choices during the last presidential election? On one hand we have Bush who has shown us that he has no problems stomping on the personal freedoms of Americans in the name of increasing the personal freedoms of the Iraqui's.
On the other hand we had Gore who's environmental beliefs were difficult to differentiate from the Uni-bomber manifesto click here to try and who's idea of financial responsibilty is (like all liberals) to "take back the tax cuts". Why don't people understand that "taking back tax cuts" is the same thing as "I'm going to tax you more"?
Remember, Liberalism is when A gets together with B to decide how much money C should give to D. YOU'RE C !
When both our choices are corrupt, stupid, power hungry men then what good does voting do us?

Re:Grit in Craw...There is a war going on. You can bury your head in the sand about it, you can surrender or you can fight back. You don't watch FOX, CNBC or other republican news outlets but millions of people do. These people are fed a 24 hour stream of hate speech aimed at democrats.
I know. I'm either for you or against you. I either need to join your crusade or risk being called really unimportant names like "head-in-sand". For someone who dislikes the Bush pre-war rhetoric you know you are begining to sound a lot like him. Perhaps if your diet of news does that to you I should probably lay off.
These news outlets are the madrasas of the western world where imams like Ms Coulter teach their students to hate democrats. One day one of those students will blow up a building with three thousand people in it or maybe even worse.
Yep, a lot like Bush. Are you even serious? Perhaps I've taken you too seriously in all my taking you not-so-seriously. But its been fun enough. Besides, I'm in the middle of my daily Rush... Ann and Bill have nothing on ol' Maha Rushie. (j/k I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh either, but I find it funny you don't even mention him).
And besides, don't think I didn't notice that you used that "Imam" dirty word thingy. You stoll that directly from David Horowitz's favorite playbook agains that tired old ideologue, Noam Chomsky. Yep, here's the quote...
Chomsky is, in fact, the imam of this religious worldview on today's college campuses. His great service to the progressive faith is to deny the history of the last hundred years, which is the history of progressive atrocity and failure. In the 20th century, progressives in power killed one hundred million people in the attempt to realize their impossible dream. As far as Noam Chomsky is concerned, these catastrophes of the left never happened. "I don't much like the terms left and right," Chomsky writes in yet another ludicrous screed called The Common Good. "What's called the left includes Leninism [i.e., Communism], which I consider ultra-right in many respects. Leninism has nothing to do with the values of the left in fact, it's radically opposed to them."
You have to pinch yourself when reading sentences like that.
Good ol' David. 'MalContent', if that is your real name, you have a ironic propendancy to sound exactly like the people you don't like that keeps me laughing. So your either a truely competant "jokes on you all" troll (and for some reason I seem to get it) or you are a truely twisted individual blinded by hatred and seeking after your great white elephant to destroy. Its cartoonish and fun, but hey everythings got its limits, right? If it is the latter, you need a break my friend.
Maybe some cartoons would do you good. I highly recomend the Disney cartoon lineup of "Recess" a prison camp motif in a elementery school, "Fillmore" a hard boiled detective motif in a Middle School, and "Kim Possible" just becuase its pretty fun to watch. For people that like very sophisticated humor wrapped up in childhood metaphors, those are the best. And they will only take up your saturday mornings leaving you with plenty of time to seethe over your great white elephant.
