Re:Competition?
I'd love to find a machine for the home, but its going to take some bizarre retro-fad thing to happen for lots of machines to be sold that way.
You can buy a new machine from a Stern dealer. Or, depending on where you live, there are auctions you can go to for older games.

Re:Any one have a cheap source for pinball mchns?
Nearly new ones? They are way way expensive. Older ones, though, can be had for much less.
We have a Galahad and a Friendship 7, from 1969 and 1962, respectively. The first we bought at an auction in Tennessee for $75 in 2000; the second I paid $150 for in Texas last year. (The market seems to be cheapest on the East Coast; auctions around here from places like Super Auctions are too expensive. -

Re:Still Need a CabinetIf you are looking for just a cabinet then you should go to your local arcade auction...I got mine at an auction here in Atlanta run by super auctions.
Speaking of eBay, I will be putting my completed mame box up for auction later this week. If you are interested, let me know and I will send the eBay link to you. (If you don't want to go through eBay, I can send pics of the box and sell it direct).

Re:Gaming goodies?
"OOh, Ooh, one of those ms. pac-man galaga machines. Those are hot!"
(Ignoring the soon-to-come MAME commentary for the time being...)No big deal - you can pick one of those up brand-new for around $2500-$3000 from any arcade game distributor in your local area. Or the new Space Invaders unit. Or the Centipede/Millipede/Missle Command combo. Of whatever they'll be coming out with next.
Or you could go to an arcade auction and try to buy an original game unit for much less. Some example prices:
- Ms Pac Man - $500
- Galaga - $500
- Golden Tee - $800
- Medieval Madness pinball - $4000
Generally speaking, Ms Pac Man and Galaga are the most popular machines at these things, and if you're willing to put in a little elbow grease, you might be able to get one much much less. Repairing vids isn't that difficult; rebuilding pins is a bit more complicated but not impossible (hell, if I can figure out how to fix my pinball machine, anyone can).
Getting your friends to actually put quarters into the machines to play instead of demanding the machines be set on Free Play is an entirely different matter and an exercise left for the student.

Re:he wanted more than Buy it Now.The unique identification code is provided to the auction participant with the high bid to uniquely identify the item.
No kidding.. I was at a Super Auction in May, and after following the EXACT same procedure I was givin a unique identification code to identify the item(s) I bought.
I just don't see the difference between a clipboad listing items for sale, and a web page.
Other than that, the processes are identical.

superauctionsI buy my cabinets at one of the many auctions that come through town, with most of the sellers and buyers being professionals(people with commercial arcades to fill) but sometimes you find a gem here and there, that you might want to fight them for. There were several Ms. Pacmans there at the last auction in town, Missle command, tempest, and some others too.. there was a good mix of old and new. www.superauctions.com seems to tour the US fairly regularly...
There is also a lot of information (FAQ's) about buying arcade machines from auctions and other places at www.spies.com/arcade/info
