The word is "Apple", which is the name of a common fruit. The "well known brand" is mainly a record company that doesn't seem to have done much since the mid-seventies.

The Apple Corps logo is a pretty realistic depiction of an apple, versus an iconified representation of an apple with a section missing:

The only thing it has in common is that it is some sort of depiction of an apple. Not a copy in my mind.

The only thing that should have gone in favor of Apple Corps is a trademark on the word in relation to distribution of music. In creating the iTunes store, Apple Inc did violate that, but apparently the courts disagreed.

Have you read some of the news reports about foreclosed home being stripped of plumbing, wiring, appliances, fixtures, even doors and windows? Some (many?) of these are proving to be cheaper to just rip it down and build new when the market comes back. Maybe even cheaper than waiting for someone to start up a meth lab and blow the whole thing to toothpicks.

It's *usually* faster and easier to rebuild a Windows XP/2K machine than to fix any of so many nasty malware infestations. And '9x/ME machines need to be removed from the 'Net and recycled. Ask Microsoft. BTW, tag that admission *honest*. A rarity for Microsoft, and typical that they would exercise it in an admission of OS security failure.

But that's just the way it is. I started spending my anti-malware research time optimizing data recovery and reinstallation, rather than disinfection. So much more effective to nuke the site from orbit.

There is a USB logo on one side of the plug which normally goes "up". Anyway there are only two possibilities with USB, whereas with PS/2 there are 4 core directions if you don't know which way the port is oriented, and sometimes the ports are off by 10 or 20 degrees so it ends up going in at some funny angle and you have to rotate the plug until it inserts.
