Re:"Faith Science Basis?"
Given the vast number of design flaws in the human (and other life forms), this is contradicted by the observed evidence.
This argument is fallacious. Just because a creation has flaws doesn't mean that it lacks an intelligent creator. A few examples (not that I need to provide examples of this, but it's fun):
- There is a fairly interesting article about flaws in some of Michelangelo's sculptures. I don't know enough about sculpting to know whether his assertions here are accurate, but it all made sense to me. I for one consider Michelangelo to be intelligent, yet I accept flaws in his masterpieces without any hesitation.
- Linux kernel bugs. Possibly the flagship OSS project, written by some of the finest software architects in human history (not a long history of software development, granted), yet I still come across large and debilitating bugs on a semi-frequent basis.
- I noticed that the website you have created is down (I assume because IIS is not running?). Though this is quite a large and fundamental flaw in your creation, I still generously deem you to be an intelligent (and well written) Slashdot commenter.

Re:Said it before and I'll say it again...Your idea is nice in theory, but consider this:
- I have a fantastic idea, but I can't finance the production of it.
- I patent it.
- I approach a big corp and say 'I had this great idea, but I don't have the funds to exploit it right now, I will give you the rights in exchange for 10% of the profit'.
- Big corp likes the idea, so they go to the patent office and get the patent overturned because I haven't exploited my patent.

Re:Quicksilver
I never really got on with QS, but I wrote a small app for launching applications under OS X. It is nothing more than a text box with (case insensitive) autocompletion, and a list of all of your applications (picked up from the common locations). It doesn't automatically re-index or anything clever, and is light on resources. Most of my apps can be launched in one mouse click and under three key strokes. Don't expect anything too polished - it's something I hacked together in a few spare minutes, and it doesn't do anything other than launch applications, but I find it to be the fastest way of launching the few apps I don't use frequently enough for them to be in my dock.

Re:EU Constitution problem solved
It was put on eBay a couple of years ago. I mirrored if for posterity.

Re:Scrabble
And if you don't have a table, I wrote a PHP version last Christmas.

Re:Why are SMSs so expensive?I worked out a while back that the cost of SMS messaging in this country is roughly equivalent to £455/MB. I thought £1/MB for GPRS data was expensive, but at this rate I could fire up a Jabber client, go through all of the authentication stuff, sync up my roster, get stored messages, and send a few messages for less than the cost of a single SMS.
In Japan, they don't use SMS - all relatively new telephones support email, and there is no difference between email sent to a computer and email sent to a 'phone. SMS was originally a neat trick used to send notifications of received voicemail out of band, and has turned into a cash cow for the industry.
By the way, Mac users who haven't yet discovered this: click on the bluetooth button in Address Book if they have a bluetooth 'phone - it allows you to send and receive SMS from your computer rather than having to use the small screen / keyboard on the 'phone. There are also other utilities that provide more features, but this one is built in.

iTunes looks pretty simple to me...

Re:Why not Firewire?
I seem to remember saying something similar a little over a year ago.

Re:By Association
The UK government ran some TV ads a short while ago saying Paedophiles use the Internet!. I'm still not sure what point they were trying to make.

Re:To all the cut and paste complainers
Actually, I would argue that the problem is only having a single buffer, rather than a stack

Re:Something to see-
Too late. They were sold on eBay a little while back.

Re:only two things are certain in life...
If you work it out, then paying 5p / text message is the equavalent to paying over £450 per megabyte
-
Re:60% ?
Remember, Paedophiles use the Internet!

Re:What kind of...Gates said hardware should be free. Stallman said software should be free. I think beer should be free.
Then perhaps you should join the Free Beer Foundation.
