Re:only works with
i use torrent flux, and it destroys everything else. LAMP based, so I can access it from any computer in my house. I strongly recommend it. http://www.torrentflux.com/

I'm part of that growth trend
I recently set up torrentflux on my always-on box at home, sharing some music from Jamendo and the latest Kubuntu beta. Nothing wrong with that. But I sometimes wonder if someone will see that I'm running a bittorrent node and attack me because of that, without bothering to notice what content I am sharing.

Re:KTorrent
All of the Bittorrent clients eat up too much CPU, especially when downloading very fast (400 kB/s hogs hard drive and CPU )...so I finally threw TorrentFlux on my fileserver and will never go back! It's a PHP client that actually uses the standard bittorrent client (can be modded to use other command line clients), but I can have 20 torrents going now without slowing down my desktop.

Re:Pretty Misleading
I agree; I use Torrentflux myself to remotely administer my torrents, but almost always I'm adding torrents during lunch so I have a TV show to watch when I get home. Managing upload rates doesn't interest me at all.
I can see this being somewhat useful if you have a long bus ride and want to add some torrents, but none of the torrent sites I use seem to have a cut-down mobile interface, so I don't see where you'd get them in the first place. -
OT: Azureus and CPU/memory usage
Hell, I've got 2gb and it's not even enough for Zend + Azureus at the same time.
That's because Azureus is a pig!. Try TorrentFlux. Install a web server (you already have Zend, so I'm guessing you're set up on that point) and install TorrentFlux. I even tried Azureus headless with the web interface, but my "server" hit loads of 1.0-2.0 any time I had more than a couple of torrents running. Now my server never runs over .20, even when I'm saturating my connection.
The feature set is great and it's extendable. Look it over. -
Free PHP web based torrent - Plug
I never liked either of them. uTorrent is Windows only and BitTorrent is somewhat lacking on the Mac. As much as I think Azureus is cool, I am starting to take a liking to Torrent Flux. Plus... I can run it on my hosting site.

Torrentflux is a webinterface for Bittorando running on Linux , also got support for Windows now...
I think the crew was aiming on thinking of making a embedded version :

Re:This morning I saw that HIV was cured
And now I see that I can download porno movies without even turning on my computer.
unfortunately, not. You have to turn on your computer in order to tell the router to download your porno. Then you can turn it off while you wait for the porn. Then your sister uses it to download the second season of Buffy and notices all the stuff you've downloaded.
Meanwhile I've always just used TorrentFlux installed on my linux server, works fine for me. (still doesn't hide my downloads from other users, however) -
Re:"Platform?"
Personally, I like TorrentFlux. It's PHP-based, so I can access it from anywhere - handy when I stumble upon something while I'm at work.

Re:well
And for Linux, use TorrentFlux which is a PHP torrent client which is controlable from the web.
It's really sweet and it's way nicer than VNCing to a Linux desktop filled with BitTorrent clients opened. -
Doesn't seem like a good fit to me....
Adding a Bittorrent client to a browser doesn't seem like a good fit to me - a BT client needs to run continuously in the background, downloading and uploading the files.
A browser's model is more one of "load the thing and show it" or "Stream the thing and show it". How does that map to BT, where you cannot even "stream" a thing (since you are getting the pieces out of order)?
Will we see people who's torrent clients only serve the file while it is being downloaded, and then stops?
Personally, I run Torrentflux - which is a PHP CGI app that allows me to download & serve torrents on my server - then I just point my browser at it to set things up.
Now, *if* the browser plug-in then communicated with a [daemon|service|external program] that did the torrent work, and all the plug-in did was send the command to the external entity to command the queuing of the download (and then open a window in the browser when the download is done)- then that might make sense. -
Re:central machine
Set up one machine with some sort of filesharing & VNC & big HDDs and make that everyone's central torrent location. Have it set with reasonable bandwith limitations & go from there.
torrentflux is a web based bittorrent interface that supports multiple users. Install that rather than vnc and you have a very convenient central bittorrent machine.
It doesn't provide particulary good control over bandwidth allocation for a group of torrents, but something like wondershaper (as mentioned elsewhere here) should help with that.
