Canonically, element 115 is Elerium...

Elerium-115
Element 115 should be named Elerium, of course http://www.ufopaedia.org/index...

Re:NYT doesn't report news but does try to create
I don't think that code 9542XA is specific enough. Does it cover when you are in the spacecraft, or when the spacecraft falls on your house?
What if it's an alien spacecraft? I bet insurance classifies that as an 'act of God' and won't cover it. Doesn't matter if you wander into a spacecraft piloted by Pee Wee Herman or the darn thing just falls on you for no reason at all .
I wondering if there's a code for if a house falls on you. Oh, there is, but it's a bit generic. -
Also know as Elerium

Skyranger?
Only 5 pounds?
How are you gonna deploy a reinforced squad of X-Com operatives from that?

I see that these are atomic numbers 114 and 116
Atomic number 115 still hasn't been named (or confirmed, according to TFA), but I know what it should be named when the time comes.

Re:I'll be most disappointed if....
That would be the usual convention, yes. However the online UFOpaedia wiki site (and my vague recollections) suggest that it was also referred to as element 115 in the game. That being said, the wikipedia discussion on ununpentium argues that Elerium-115 should be interpreted as the Elerium isotope of mass 115 rather than element 115, prompting this pop-culture reference's removal from the article.

Re:berserk?
This is a reference to XCOM: UFO Defense, an old but very good PC game. Ufopaedia.org has a good overview of the game.
The game is no longer sold or supported, but it is freely available at abandonia. It runs fine on windows XP, although it does crash occasionally when switching from geoscape to combat so save before combat missions.
