Timothy - this story is not news for nerds, nor is it stuff that matters in our microcosm. Granted, many other people are happy that this man finally got his day in court (it IS a good thing), but come on man. Just because there is some far-fetched correlation between this and Bill Gates's wealth and judge doesn't mean it's
/. front-page material. I'm sure the *BSD crowd would like to get more front page publicity - why not actually post software and computer related stories up front, and delegate stuff like this to the back (as *BSD is now)?
Thank you.
And BTW Timothy - care for some hot grits? -
I am glad WalMart won
I purchased some from Samara Brothers - they were too thick, lost heat too easily, and did not pour well.
I purchased some from WalMart - they were the right texture (thinner than hominy, thicker than soup), maintained their warmth, and poured very easily down my pants.
What am I talking about?
Hot grits of course! -
interesting
I do not think I would like to pour hit chili down my pants.
Instead, I prefer hot grits. (oh so pretty) -
oh man
Im in geek heaven!
I pulled my LEGO bricks out the other day (all 4 boxes of them *G*) and went to town. I thought how cool it would be to design my own instructions, print them out, and finish building my space-pirate and anime robots some other day.

Not so much a total shortage
IMHO, its finding someone truly skilled in the IT field that's the problem.
*points to the mass of MSCE's next door*
Granted, some of them _are_ smart. But the majority of IT workers I enounter now would have a hard time telling sendmail.cf/apache confs/etc from thier arse. The whole 'I got my cert, Im cool now' attitude I see really bugs me since it devaluates the skilled workers out there.

Remember when:
Everyone complained how "Mandrake is a RedHat rip-off!"
Heh, well, looks like Mandrake is putting some serious competeition on RH now. Congrats guys...*likes watching the OS community grow*

does it matter?
If it was made to fail, people would find out sooner or later.
NASA has a tarnished image as it is, and wouldn't gain by covering up the truth - only lose. So what if they knew....the little bugger did more to raise interest in Mars than many other things did, so in the long run (when my grandkids are sitting on Mars) it doesn't matter if one lander failed, IMHO.

good
Remember the old adage of "More choices is a good thing!"
If this means KDE/Qt is more widespread, various open source OS's must be too. More uses for Linux/*BSD/open source is a Good Thing =)
