Perhaps less important, but...
I keep a list of useful extensions here of which I use the ones with a version number next to them; most of those have already been mentioned, but here are some of those that I find quite useful that I didn't see (either weren't mentioned so far or I skimmed over them, sorry
;)
Slim Extension List (0.1) tidies the extension manager by reducing the display size of entries. (Good for people with too many extensions ;)
Stop-or-Reload Button (0.1) make more room on your toolbar by combining the stop and reload buttons.
Flashblock (1.3.1) prevents autoloading of flash files; one click starts them going.
BugMeNot (0.8) extremely useful for browsing news (and other) sites that normally make you 'register for free' when you don't want to.
DictionarySearch (0.9.3) highlight a word and then look it up with just a couple clicks!
Finally, I should mention Cards (0.16.1) 27 Card Games for Firefox (including Solitaire ^_-) Now, you might ask how that's useful, but you'd be surprised how much that can interest some people who have never tried Firefox before... and getting them to switch from IE is a good thing, ne? ;-) -

Re:Four to five things I'd like for Firefox...
Tab reordering (coming in 1.5)
In the meantime, give miniT a shot. (Get it here.) I've been using it for a long time, and it rocks. -
code for abstracting event handling etc.
Caio Chassot has created a godsend of a Javascript library for abstracting event handling and all sorts of other goodness:

Re:NAT
try miniT and session saver

Re:20 IE Windows?!!!
tab browser exensions will let you do that. it is among the more heavyweight extensions and could slow your browser down a lot. mini-T is much more sprightly and will let you *copy* a tab into another window. No doubt there are others --

Re:Workaround
Check out the thread devoted to Rebuilding TBE's featureset with other plugins at the mozillazine forums.
There are links to various small tab extensions so you can pick and choose the functionality you want.
This gives you only the features that you actually want without having to put up with the full Tabbrowser Extensions performance hit.
I use MiniT to give me drag and drop, all bookmarks in new tabs, and the order of focus, and BlankLast to prevent closing the last tab from closing the browser -
Re:Save tabs?
TBE was good, but it got really bloated IMHO. i use Session Saver and miniT at the mo'. (both working in the new release). does what i need alright.

Better version of miniTI like miniT, which lets you rearrange the tabs. There's an improved version of the original.
miniT (drag+indicator) is a modification of Dorando's miniT (drag) which adds an indicator to where the tab will be inserted when you drop it. Installing it will replace the original miniT (drag).
