Re:WebODF and ownCloud Documents
It's different: WebODF uses ODF as a file format. You can see this by going clicking on the text and doing 'inspect element'. This will show you the actual ODF xml.

Re:No Single Person Has Done More Damage
Use Strigi

Spotlight clone exists
First there was Kat, which seems to be dead for unknown (personal to the lead developer?) reasons, but is still packaged by eg Mandriva, and is very useful, see its Wikipedia entry. Now its successor is Strigi which acts as KPart and KIO-slave. I don't think anyone's currently packaging it because it's pretty new, but there's no real cost to switching something like a search engine, so use Kat for now if you want it, and switch to Strigi when it becomes available for your distribution. I love the Plastik theme and the customizability of the KDE toolbars, so to each his own on that front. I think you will find that with KDE-look, you hardly have to spend hours looking for themes if you do want something different, however.

Re:KDE Possible Improvements
Heck, I may strongly consider contributing to such a project.
Why don't you check out Strigi? It's written in C++, runs as a background daemon, can index files recursively and is light on your RAM.
Here's an ODP presentation (pdf) about it. -

Re:Cache of the caches?
The pages load fine for me, even when automagically loading the pictures with QuickGallery.

Re:My Extensions window lists...
The Quickgallery Greasemonkey script preloads images from an image gallery and lets you navigate them with the keystrokes.

Re:Sony Ericsson phones
And here's the perfect game for it.
Now only if I'd have a phone that would support 3D java, I'd port it and make it available for free.
Donations are welcome. :-) -
Re:What puzzles games do you know?
Check out this one.

Re:Safari likes to cache searches too
Well, Google Suggest is just as dangerous. This is _no_ mock-up, it's a result from about a month ago. Pretty shocking results for a harmless query!

Re:Why to get this bookI bought the book mainly because of the windows version of the library. There are four versions of the library on the CD:
- Qt for Borland C++ Builder 5
- Qt for Borland C++ Builder 6 trial edition
- Qt for Visual C++ 6
- Qt for Visual C++
.NET
I've ported my app cubetest to windows with the Builder 5 compiler. This compiler is however very old and the debugger works in DOS. That's not really a problem if the app would work well. Unfortunately, on other computers than my own the app seems to crash quite often even though I've thoroughly checked floating point errors and memory problems under linux.
So I'd like to use a better compiler and debugger under windows, to get the last problems out. Are there any other free compilers that could work with the Qt versions supplied on the CD? It would be ok to use a Microsoft compiler, since I'm porting to windows anyway.
PS: irritating feature of Windows XP, if my app crashes, XP offers to send it to Microsoft for debugging!

Re:Trig functions...
Thanks a lot!
That makes a huge difference in speed.
Now this application runs much smoother. -
Re:Finally, a decent monospaced font!
I'm using Luxi Mono size 8 in SuSE 8.2 and size set to small in konsole, and I'm very happy with it.
I'm working on a 800x600 screen and this small fonts allows me to work with two terminals alongside.
Here's a screenshot.
