Re:Survivors?
Google "hindenburg survivors" perhaps? I mean, come on, there are links on the first results page! They might not give you the number of survivors, but they definitely confirm that there were some.

Re:Cost to orbit
Except the blimp material would have to be nothing short of plane-proof. One bullet to the balloon and you've got another Hindenburg on your hands.

Re:You're forgetting the major problem
There are very reasonable proposals for how to store hydrogen on board a car. The real problem is that most people are still scared of hydrogen because of the Hindenburg - and any quick search will reveal that hydrogen was not to blame in that disaster, but rather the skin of the Hindenburg. (for example here)
As for transportation, why transport hyrdrogen all over the country when you can make it on site. Honda has already designed and built a solar powered hydrogen refueling station. -
Has NO ONE been paying attention?
Here's what I don't understand: Why are we even talking about hydrogen powered anything? Has no one been paying attention?
The Bush Administration needs to buy themselves a cluebat and beat themselves silly. Haven't they ever heard of the Hindenburg? In a post 9/11 era, how can we even talk about letting ordinary Americans (which include of course thousands of sleeper cells) drive around huge hydrogen bombs strapped to cars? Because that's exactly what a hydrogen fuel tank is.
All this talk about water-producing Freedom Cars is great, but wait until someone drives one into a skyscraper! -
hm... explosive?
Just curious??? anyone know the answer?
How explosive would a "bottle of pure hydrogen" be that could "provide 1.2kW for up to 10 hours"?
Could this be used as an explosive? We all all remember the Hindenburg right? (it was filled with Hydrogen).
I don't want this to happen to my computer :)
Also.. could this be knocked back by the govenment due to terrorist potential?
....

Hindenburg?Interesting article. The author makes reference to "..the hydrogen that filled the Hindenburg." While it's true that this certainly couldn't have helped the situation, I have heard that the demise of the Hindenburg was actually caused by its highly flammable skin coating. Anyone have any more information regarding this?
