    I wanted to find out about a HERF device, so I went to the 2003 slashdot story and followed the link there . Its gone. The domain has been bought out by some sleazy company. Following the HERF link on the page takes you to a place advertising penny stocks.

    So finally I follow one of these guys to see where he ended up. I honked my horn rythmically as I drove by.

    You stopped too soon. Once you've lured the boob out of your neighborhood, you could use several of the other techniques mentioned here such as the HERF gun to disable the electronics in his car leaving him stranded (without the solace of music) or the suggestion of using a combination of 2.5k candlepower flashlight pointed in the offender's face and maybe an airhorn (while wearing ear-protection)

    Now, I know that it's ILLEGAL, but what's to stop you from simply using a cantenna or similar device and hooking it up to a simple amplifier? It seems to me that decent gain combined with higher wattage would equal better signal strength, even with a less-than-perfect LOS.

    Or - use a fast pulse-forming network to blast the signal out of an old primestar dish at 1 kW!

    How about some divine retribution with a vulcan cannon?

    Close, but how about a more practical solution. PLAN A:
    + ~1 million slash dotters
    + Real address for all those spammers
    + Directions for construction of HERF guns (EMP guns) http://www.voltsamps.com
    = No body gets hurt, hard to catch & we disable the spamming computers. (I prefer to call it "opting out".)
    They can route as much of their spamming operations overseas, but if they can't connect to them they are still SOL.
