Re:They obviously aren't aware of Acer...
UH FA Porche is NOT a spin off of porche. Its just Ferdenand Porche who happens to be related to the Porche Family. FA Porche is not a spin off of anything. He is a designer who got his start in the family business(cars) and then started his own company. http://www.vprmatrix.com/difference_design.asp OMG is ASP don't look.

vprMatrix
Check out vprMatrix. These x86 laptops are fairly decent in quality (my ~3 year old laptop still works great), and they're designed by F. A. Porsche GmbH. The thing has style.

How about VPR Matrix?
This is hardly a first... VPR Matrix supplied Porsche designed laptops to Best Buy (they still do, I think). They were pretty far from flashy, with a gray/silvery exterior and a staid black interior shell. I owned one for a few months, and it was a wonderful performer, and always caught people's eyes (without the startup sound and bright red paint).

Would like to see a Samsung in the States.
I've got a VPR Matrix 175B4. After a bit of research I found out my laptop is basically a Samsung P10. I'm a huge fan of Samsung so one could probably imagine my elation at this discovery.
What I'm getting at (in a very roundabout way) is a certain laptop I've managed to both hold and see in use here in the states. The Samsung X10. Like the Panasonic Toughbook W2 in that it's both light and unattainable via the usual channels, this computer was a site to behold. I'd like to see any Samsung laptop on the market (as I've found them to more often than not be both marvels in design and technology). Anyone else feel the same way?

Wow!
It says they are Wholly Owned. I don't know if "owned" is a word I want associated with any computer I buy.

Re:Misleading
The article also says it's a Best Buy computer. The notebook was made by vpr Matrix.
Here's their web site
And here's images of their products.
And their site states that their whole line is designed by F.A. Porche. Apparently they do all sorts of this stuff, and have even done a monitor for Samsung.
I think they're ugly, and this story is definately not news. -

(yes, I see that I still kant spel!) -
Umm . . .Not to burst anyone's bubble, but this isn't exactly news . . . these have been out for awhile. They're of the VPR Matrix brand, which is one of Best Buy's in-house brands now. I have one of their desktops (which, yes, Porsche also designed), and it's a pretty solid box - 2.26 P4, 512 DDR RAM, CD-RW, DVD, RAID-ready, 3 Firewire jacks, de-branded Logitech optical mouse, and a 17" Samsung LCD for $1,200.
"Ouch ! What do you do ?"
