Re:And Slashdot goes to zero
W3Schools is a site for web developers and does not represent the web despite the three W's in the name.
Net Applications(which measures visitors instead of page views like Statcounter) has it at ~50%.
Ahh... W3Schools, the programming site so bad at what it is purported to do that Stack Overflow has repeatedly debated whether to even allow links to W3Schools, and W3Fools was set up to point out all the bad code and antipatterns on the site.

Re:Some questions
I basically agree with most of your post, but wanted to point out one mistake -- which is common enough, no offense. W3schools, which you cited, is in no way associated with W3C.
In fact, the information available from their site is often incomplete, inaccurate and sometimes plain wrong. It has been getting better, apparently, thanks in no small part due to these guys.

Oops.
First, you lose credibility for linking w3schools.com. Professional web developers wouldn't be caught dead referencing them. Second, you're referencing a tag that's deprecated because of CSS. Professional web developers wouldn't be caught dead using a font tag (or any other stylistic tags for that matter).

Re:DRM
-1 for linking to w3schools. Yes, you too can help prevent the plague that is w3schools on the web! http://w3fools.com/

Re:I really don't get the anti-w3schools.com snobs
I seriously question the web expertise of anyone who snubs w3schools as a "terrible", "painful" resource for web development. However, there isn't a resource that is more user-friendly than w3schools on many of the web topics.
I seriously question the web expertise of anyone who snubs w3schools snobs. I'll note that experts don't need user-friendly, they need accuracy, both as a reference level and as a guide for best practices. Check http://w3fools.com/ again...

Re:like this one by w3fools???
1. Snub w3schools for posing as a developer resource while targeting newbies.
2. Point out that in general the alert and confirm dialogs have better alternatives.
3. Criticize w3schools.com for lack of giving explanation while pointing at resources that do.
4. Advocating the use of console.log while knowing that the console object isn't supported by IE, which should be avoided as a debugging tool anyway.FTFY

Please don't use or link to W3Schools. You can read why at http://w3fools.com/

Re:Article Should Be Modded down As Troll
W3Schools is a website for fools with an interest for web technologies. FTFY. http://www.w3fools.com/

Re:Oh wow, really?
No, technically literate people do not use w3schools. Wannabe hacks and the most inexperienced of beginners use w3schools.

No, it's well above 15%
First of all, it's closer to 17%. With the current rate of decrease we'll hit 15% in something like four months if nothing happens before that. More importantly...
(The statistics above are extracted from W3Schools' log-files, but we are also monitoring other sources around the Internet to assure the quality of these figures)
Audience of W3Schools is people who are trying to learn the basics of certain web-related technologies and don't yet know that W3Schools is hardly the best place for that. Whether you like W3Schools or not, it's hardly representative of general population.

Re:What's best
Sorry for replying to myself; I just wanted to add a link that was supposed to be on the "terrible site" part: http://w3fools.com/ and ask forgiveness for the "it's" vs "its" mistake.

Re:I really wish...
Seconded. I use it to block w3schools and sexchange sites. Perhaps someone should do an intervention a la w3fools...

Re:Special characters
Just say no to w3schools... http://w3fools.com/
