Microsoft Versus
I just started the site MS Versus for exactly this purpose. I've put in some opinionated artlces, but I'm trying to include as many direct facts as possible. Everyone feel free to log in and contribute!

Just added it to my new site
Blatent shameless plug: I just added a link to this linuxworld article from my new site - MS Versus. I'm putting together a very broad comparison, covering as many bases as possible, of MS and alternatives. Contributions are welcome.

Add *this* to your systemI grew up with the rise of consoles - from the early ones like the atari and pong - through NES and its siblings to now, the ps2 xbox etc, just as many of us have. But I still do not own one. I had a sega, I had NES and super NES and dreamcast. But I choose not to buy any new ones now. I have played computer games religously ever since I was in 3rd grade. I play games on my PC and thats how I like it.
Yep. I had the Intellivision, Atari 2600, NES, and SNES (which I still have). No plans to buy another console. I am not a big gamer, but I do still play Quake online occasionally. (created a bootable Quake server too, based on Knoppix. - knoppixquake
.)But I also got into collecting arcade cabinets, and although my collection has dwindled over the years, my collection of ROMs has grown. I just purchased an X-Arcade joystick. Add MAME to your gaming PC, and one of these, and you should have a few thousand more games to keep you interested.
LEGAL NOTE: you should only acquire ROMs for games that you actually own.

My school district's
Server is still infected with a IIS virus (though not Code Red). Here it is
I sent them an email - almost a year ago in fact. They just brushed me off and gave a rather pathetic excuse ("the box is too slow to run Norton").
You can read the e-mail here.
Of course, these are the same people who run a trouble ticket server on the district wide WAN that any old joe at school can access and see where the security issues are. -
Brilliant ScreenshotsI've found some brilliant screenshots of these games
The problem though is that we need them to look much more realistic and somehow make the gameplay 'feel' much more real -

...for a large chunk of un-signed and/or small label groups.ObRIAA/Napster: As a way to access bootlegged music, it's awesome. I do think it's only fair that the artists (directly) receive some sort of compensation for their studio-recorded material. As much as I dislike advertising, why couldn't compensation be derived from tacking on short audio adver-bytes onto the front of every nth Napster-like download? That way the user doesn't have to micro-pay for downloads, but if they want to guarantee no-advert recordings, they have to buy the CD.
(ObPlug: Of course you're more than welcome to listen to our stuff... And cast one vote for Today's High to open for Edwin at Navan Fair. Voting ends today.

Auto download & install of Mozilla for Win32!
Really nothing that fantastic, but I put together a script to automatically download and install Mozilla on a Win32 system. Put this in your system scheduler to run every night, and you're ready for testing!
This script assumes that it runs from c:\mozupd, and that Mozilla is installed in c:\program files\netscape\seamonkey
It's available for download HERE
